The jacket and the shadow boxes are a great touch.

In order for me to make a retail version of the jacket it would be around $800+ retail. Not the price range I think most yoyo players are looking for. Plus it would devalue the Champion jackets, IMO.

Start practicing.

Yea I was thinking I’d spend $700 tops! (I kid)

Lol that ship sailed about 30 years ago.

(And I thought about the devaluing and agree it probably would)

Worlds updates:

  • There are a handful of rooms left at the Renaissance, but not many. Less than 10 as of Monday. Book here: https://cleveland2019.com/hotel/
  • We still need volunteers for plenty of positions! If your parents are looking for something to do while they’re hanging out at the contest, let them know we could use their help! Signups are here: https://cleveland2019.com/volunteer
  • Looks like train service between the Airport and Tower City Center is screwed up because of construction. Travel page has been updated with new info: https://cleveland2019.com/travel-info/
  • Contest shirts will be $15, enamel pins will be $10, wooden yoyos will be $10, buttons will be $1, stickers will be 2/$1. Quantities for all are pretty limited and in 2016 we sold out of everything. Plan accordingly.

That’s all for now. Get your music uploaded!

Just bought my ticket I’ll be there on Friday! I’ll try to make it to the meet up with all of you guys. Do we think the supplies on the pins and wooden yoyo’s will holdout until then?

Am I seeing correctly that the bus and train trip to the venue from the airport is now 1 hr 20 min?

Unfortunately, yes. :frowning:

There’s a bunch of construction happening that has interrupted service between the airport and the venue, so now instead of a train straight from baggage claim to the contest in about 30-40 minutes it’s a bus to a train stop and then a train to the contest and it takes a little over an hour.

It’s still the cheapest way to go, but definitely not the quickest. Taking a Lyft should be about $20-$25 and will only take about 25 minutes.

All I have left to do is decide what Yoyo’s to bring for “contest carry”.

The 2019 World YoYo Contest will be streamed live on August 8, 9, and 10. Players and fans not in attendance will be able to watch the entire event on the device of their choice. Live commentary for Semi-Finals and Finals will be provided by Scales Collective, and viewers will have the option to watch with or without commentary.

This year the live stream will be administered by the US National YoYo League through YoYoContest.com, and there will be a small fee of $5 to watch the stream. This is a one-time fee to watch the entire 2019 event for all three days of the stream.

Current US National YoYo League members have this included in their membership, so the contest is free for them to watch!

Full details and instructions on how to set up your YoYoContest.com account are at the link below. Thank you!

For anyone wondering, when you sign up you pay the 5 wing wangs for the stream immediately. It’s what I wanted, so I didn’t have to deal with it all the day of the event.

I have no idea what yoyos to bring with me to worlds :joy: Is there any particular ones you guys would want to try to help me narrow it down? Dont really wanna bring more than 20. Heres my collection

I know people bring huge cases and tons of yo-yos, but honestly I would just bring a couple. Might just be my personal opinion, but you’ll enjoy the contest more with less belongings you have to worry about keeping an eye on.

Also - Bring the Hero, I keep seeing you talk about that and haven’t tried one yet!

Yes, that’s on my list to bring. I have about 12 or so I wanna bring, maybe I’ll just stick with that.
