I’m talking about competitions. My brother won stop arguing with me that Mir is the GOAT and not Hariuki. I need some more responses than his biased answers.
I think at the moment is Hajime Miura, is winning the world from ages and doesn’t seems to stop.
For 1a I also think it’s Mir Kim, if the scoring points game and fashion in competitive play keep staying like that I see it hard someone conquering that 1st place anytime soon
What qualifies someone for the title of Greatest Of All Time? Because…Mir (while amazing) only kind of just showed up.
Is it most influence? (Doc Pop? Steve Brown?), most titles? (Hajime? Gentry), most influence on yoyo design? Most online to outside of yoyo influence (Brandon Vu? Angel?)
Greatest of all time is such a vague undefined term.
He is talking about competition in the first post, so it should be competitive yoyoing only!
The “”“problem”“”" with Mir is that yes he did win only one but he scored higher than everyone else ever!
Ah that’s fair…I read of that. But still would not argue someone is the greates ever…simply because he had 2 very good wins.
Give it a couple of years…see how he does in the long run.

Did not see must be competitive. I understand completions are essential for the yo-yo community for many reasons and it is needed.
Unpopular person opinion warning.
Unless it is a special performance or the finals. I do not enjoy watching competitions, due to it being so hard to track what is going on. Yes this could be due to my limited experience with competition. But I enjoy the relaxed play with out the added pressure of competition.
Totally agree with you this is why I write down about Hajime, he is really winning from ages in different categories as well which is insane.
I still think anyway those categories are a tiny bit “childish”, I think everyone has is own heroes and is itself a hero for someone else.
My favourite players are not always great competitors
This, and it’s subjective. You’re gonna get a bunch of different opinions because everyone has their own biases.
My personal GOAT is Jensen Kimmitt because he won Worlds then left the competition scene to dedicate the rest of his yoyo career to design yoyos for fun and personal development. In his own words, “it doesn’t mean anything. It’s BS.”
I just gotta say that it’s tyler severance.
teaching a whole generation of yoyoers is a huge flex plus teaching the general public about it is also huge
honorable mention to gentry
I don’t think Yo-yoing necessarily has its own Tom Brady or Shaun White if you will. There are a few however that rise above the rest. In my biased opinion they would be: Gentry, Hajime, Hariuki, Rei, and probably Takeshi. Just for that sake of what they did that was new and the way thst they set the bar for their era of competition. Give Mir a few more years and he’ll be on that list too.
Most titles is still Shinji Saito. Shouldn’t forget about him! He won every combined division!
Oh that’s right!
+1 for hajime miura
+1 for gentry if you only care about 1a
they are both hugely influential (yes im ignoring more than 10years ago, its before my time)
I’m the GOAT. I mean, I’ll eat just about anything.
I feel like Rei Iwakura needs to be mentioned here. Not sure if he is the GOAT (if such a thing exists) but he is around forever and won a lot of titles
You’re confusing between Tyler Severance and Tyler Vienneau
If GOAT = most title earn then:
1A: Hiroyuki Suzuki (4x)
2A: Shinji Saito (13x)
3A: Hajime Miura (7x)
4A: Rei Iwakura (6x)
5A: Takeshi Matsuura (7x)
You are right. I misread it😓
