Got a quirky one recently

Cleaning out my closets i found another bin with a bunch of yoyos… im sure you all relate. Probably not opened for 10 years. Funny 15 years ago when i was playing these i didn’t know what to do with these 3 other then loop. Now they are reborn with my basic 2A and 0A. Funny how things come back.

Some Fixed Axle gems in that lot. Pro Flys are still a favorite, and to steal @gcoomans term, those Vintage Wheels Slap.

Now that I have the Day Tripper, can say it reminds me of a supercharged Axl Elite (which is a good thing). The Axl Elite is a very light yoyo, probably the lightest yoyo in my collection. It’s very snappy, feels great. The Day Tripper takes that and bumps it up a bit, feeling like it has a little more meat to it, a little easier to control. I took some comparison shots of the two.

Not sure if the Axl Elite was the inspiration for this as this is pretty much a slimmed down take on the Weekender.

Found this guy a few days ago…i can actually get more 1A tricks on this then my newer wooden throws. This Apollo has a diff finish then the Tmbr, Caveman and SW… can that be why i get more spin time?
Either way throwing Wood is so satisfying!

You are that much closer to Spirt Bomb.

It’s my goal. I read you are trying to hit spirit bomb… the race is on!

So far I have only hit 3 times, so very inconsistent atm. I hang up on the wrist mount exit, I need to remember to breath to keep that wrap out smooth. Or I need to figure out a stall to an engineer whip as a personal work around, either way its still a fun trick concept. Hopefully I get it by Fixed Axle February.

Well done on hitting it 3 times! Wow!

Yeah I’ve only have gotten it on a Spinworthy Harbinger. There is a Yo-Yo loar that you haven’t learned a trick unless you can do it on five differntent Yo-Yos.

I think i agree with that… diffrent yoyos and Make it a repeater… then you can flex on everyone… but for now i smile at my wrist mount on my Apolo.

The similarities between The Daytripper and the Axl Elite also jumped out to me. Given that Doc loved the Axl Elite, the influence/inspiration isn’t too surprising. (The response and finish on The Daytripper are much better, though.)

Yea, the finish on the Day Tripper is much different…I can do tape measures much smoother on the Tripper, where the Elite just wants to jump out of my hand. Both throws though handle very nice.

I just got a 2012 eH and I can’t make it return consistently at all. That throw has a wood sleeve over a metal threaded axle and 4 holes on each half inside the gap. I had another throw once with the same, 4 hole, response and I couldn’t make that one consistently return either.

I have zero trouble with my woodthread axle TMBR fixies and I’m perplexed about why I can’t make the 2012 respond. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
