Can you time travel to find out the end result and let us know?! I am seriouse lol
I honestly don’t know if I can top Nacho Kruger. He is supposed to be dropping the comic today that he teased yesterday.
I gotta say, he nailed the drawing of me in my strawberry kitchen
Yo I wanted a heavy fixie. My bro helped me by making the CAD and my other bro printed a bunch of them. It’s prolly like 80g or 90g ish. No scale so idk the actual weight. I set the gap and glued in the dowel myself. My bro who printed them had the scale smaller at first on accident so the bag with more is scaled down so lighter and smaller also. The hole was too small at first also but I got a drill.
So far I think it is super dope. You can def feel the weight and the naturally lower rpms from the extra mmoi. Kind of nice thought bc it is safe to huck it vs trying to be gentle w stalls n stuff. Way easier to control speed of flips for like kickflips. The lower rpms hurts the most when regenerating out of a stall but that just takes some gettingused to I think like If i only have a timy bit of a wrap around the axle I just have to make sure I put some oomph into it. Fits my hand good. Over all it turned out way better than I expected it to be.
Also it sits really nice when it lands like requires less finesse for it to land and not twist up like if you kickflip sloppy or something. The big dia helps keep the string locked in also. And it does good at charging slacks for tension elements (figuring out the classic gormely tension hook w a dead yoyo out of a stall is what inspired me to want to get this made.). Lighter yoyos were not giving me the right amount of tension on the string or like for my preference it felt like
What are you using for response?
Nice. That’s an awesome experience getting help to make something real from people around you to support your hobby.
Sounds like an awesome fixie any plans to sell some or distribute the cad files?
It was right there in the OP (on the subject).
But that means I got to make my own files and I’m infinitely lazy lol. Your technically right though and that’s the best kind of right
I bet that thing can kickflip for days
Looks awesome. Heavier yoyos in the 0A realm are rare, glad to see u make it happen
There’s a bit of roughness from the process of 3d printing, but mostly it is just the gap width and string thickness. Probably would be worth adding in a starburst if I do a V2 but response is fine rn.
edit: actually if I did a V2, I would try to add the texture on the out side to the inner wall as well bc that sounds easy and would probably work well
I am definitely not trying to sell any like this was just because I wanted it for myself. Let me double check w my bro that made the CAD but I would be down to send out the .stl file if you or anyone else is interested, just DM me.
The texture on the outside is likely the texture of the build plate. It’s actually not very feasible to replicate it on the inside unless you invert the whole print, which the design doesn’t really lend itself to. You could print each half in halves again, but that causes other challenges.
Lol lemme know if you print it yo. The holes for response are a good idea. Mine were responding perfectly at first but i think that was bc of the roughness on the interior from the print process. They have both kinda like smoothed out now (I think?) and are slippy like definitely slippier than they were at first. I had to put wax on the string to get them back to responding good
probably not ideal… w/e tho like at least they are fun to play again hah!
I have printed it. Need to find time to assemble. I printed for 1/4” axle since you didn’t explicitly say a size.
Nice! I did .1875” but sweet yo yeah lemme know how it plays
The Drop Knot sounds dope too ![]()
edit: Dropnaut??
