So all my yo-yos are unresponsive, and I would like to add a responsive, but I’m wondering what is a good responsive it can be machined or aluminum.
Just trying to see what’s out there for responsive . My goal is to start yo-yos from the beginning. Go back and learn the basics. Get more comfortable. Have some fun.

What’re you looking to achieve with the responsive?
For 0a play, boisewoodworks puts out great wooden fixes, ardeus makes amazing 3d printed ones, and layer infinity makes great 3d printed modern responsives. The OD deepest stare and ZGRT el mijo are also good for it if you want metal, but I prefer the others
For a more 1a but responsive, you can’t go wrong with the recess firecracker. I love the d-bearing version, but both play well. Spencer berry’s Theodore is my favorite responsive 1a throw, but thats harder to come by. The MK1 x spiral sliver also plays really fun if you set it up responsive!
freehand one
These are both incredible suggestions, for very different reasons.
Deepest State, with a grease bucket, is probably the best C bearing responsive throw for 0A style play. With a normal lubed bearing it leans a small amount more towards semi-responsive play.
The Freehand One is crazy how good it is out of the box. Its the only yoyo I can spirit bomb and shoot the moon literally right out of the package. Its a little heavy and has more kickback than I like for 0A play, so its more a responsive 1A throw for me with 0A capability.
Duncan Butterfly is really all you need to get started with learning 0A. Freehand One is a good semi-responsive option.
But what if: Ultra State?
I agree. I think FH1 is a must have (or at least try).
Technically, it may not meet the machined or aluminum criteria, though there is the small bearing FH1 Al. I have both, and the AL version is both nicer and underscores just how good the regular ~$25 FH1 really is.
My goal is to get a responsive because I wanna start yo-yo all over again and go back to the basics. I wanna start responsive and then move my way up. I wanna get more comfortable and I wanna have a little bit more fun I wanna learn some responsive tricks, get more acclimated to yo-yoes and move up to unresponsive. It’s time for me to start having some fun
I’m not against it going plastic. so I would be willing to try. I think the free hand one is only $20.
What happened to your Confusion? Thats just as good as everything else out there based off of the Playmaxx Cold Fusion GT

I wouldn’t recommend the Deepest State as a stepping stone to unresponsive. It is actually quite fun for unresponsive (or barely responsive), but I don’t think the width/low weight/high walls are the best for someone trying to learn the basics.
