Hi, I was wondering what everybody’s opinion is on what string brands are best for unresponsive, yoyo’s and responsive yoyo’s, I just made my first yoyo purchase in almost a year. I’ve bought a few new offset, yoyo’s and a new spintek they’re coming in the mail this week. I’ll be sure to post pictures when I get them.
Try Vosun strings, which can be found on Aliexpress, they are definitely worth every penny.
Throw-yo and Zipline have my heart ![]()
Zipline hands down. Not even a contest. You’ll never touch cheap bulk string again and they last foreeeevveerrrr
another vote for zipline
I’m a bulk person all the way. I’ve tried boutique string, but I personally feel like having an abundance of bulk string helps me feel free to change it more regularly. I untie knots all the time in mine, but I like to throw away a string if I know that knot will be exceptionally tough. I like original throw, yoyostring lab, sochi when you could find it, atmos cloudweave, canopy rope, a few others. The only string I don’t like is magicyoyo bulk, and yoyoformula,(The stuff you buy on amazon) because next to original throw or even kitty, it’s trash, gross, and doesn’t whip or slack well. The beauty of buying name brand bulk is that even if you don’t love it at first, you will get used to it’s characteristics after your 20th string, and maybe even consider buying it again by the end. This has happened to me twice. If you really hate it, sell it on here for cheap and try something else.
Good quality nylon strings like ZS.Air are definitely worth it. (It’s like $2.25 for a string that lasts for frigging forever) In my experience most polyester strings like to malt into bearings within minutes of play. If you hate cleaning bearings then more durable polyester or nylon strings are probably better for you. Nylon strings either require stretching (or are more elastic) but generally also less rope-like than polyester, and are a lot easier to pick knots out of. With ZS.Air specifically I can pick the slipknot with only my bare hands.
OTS. Mic drop
Zipline and YYSL. Mic thrown off the stage. Lol
Has anybody tried twisted strings?
As a brand ambassador of sam and someone who gives away lots of twisted at club. It’s very meh. It’s fine but I only have it cause it’s thrown into boxes of stuff I get from that company and I give it away cause it’s better than the crusty string the kids never ever change at club
(Apparently these kind of honest responses are why I’m not doing well at my day job)
$2.25? So, if I have ten yo-yo’s I need $25 to string them? I will stick with my good old Kitty-String.
Who wants string that lasts forever? That just means I gotta pick out all the knots instead of just chucking it for a new one when a particular knot begins to irritate me. I do not want to be a slave to some fancy, expensive string. I run this show. ![]()
for an entire month of daily play. your kitty lasts for about 30 min. amortize the cost over the life of the string and bulk poly is objectively more expensive
It also depends on what people like. Some folks honestly like fresh bulk poly feel. Personally I like plush nylon but to each their own
I change preferences all the time, I like having a supply of decent bulk string like OT, and a handful of high end stuff. Also been subscribed to the Throw Yo patreon monthly string which has been awesome.
I just put the nice ones on my current favourites and move them around. It’s less annoying than constantly using new strings.
Bulk poly is life!
absolutely! i was only challenging the insinuation that bulk was the economical choice
Love Original Throw for bulk. One yoyo equipment is also nice!
Zipline and Big Red for nice, boutique nylon blends.
It is not about cost only. It is cost vs. (convenience plus performance).
