String preference is highly subjective.
I personally like using OT fat, OT W1ld, and Sochi Alphaline.
I’ve tried a ton of strings over the years, and for me, these fit closest to what I like.

Original Throw for bulk, I’ve been enjoying the Pro blend, tho QC was not the best on my bag of it.
Zipline ZSAir is super lux, probably my favorite overall but it’s expensive.
Throw Yo is very good quality, I am subscribed to their Project Torsion so I have a bunch of it now. I find it to be very course/stiff in most blends requiring a dedicated break-in, and they also tend to be thicker, but they are very unique!

zipline executive class. soft as can be and i don’t have to change strings for a month or more. im not a fan of rough string and i hate changing strings every day or two so zipline checks the boxes for me. plus it’s a family owned business where Jeremy hand makes the string and i like supporting that

You are probably going to try a lot of different strings throughout your journey. Some yoyos will do better with thick strings while others may work better with thin or normal widths. Some strings are really rough to the touch and others can be quite soft. Over time you will develop a preference. Btw, I use YYSL, OT and Airetic

I’ve experienced the same with a bag of Fat and Normal OT.
Last strings I bought were some close out Edge string. Currently just going through my stash

Strings are a VERY personal thing, and what you the string you play with depends on what you expect of it. My strings range from the everyday play to the REALLY weird and unpredictable. If you’re just starting, stick with a good, bulk spun polyester. Once you have a feel for your own style, you can branch out into other boutique strings and different materials to see what fits best.

I just started using one string Junyi Lin i really like it but it wears out a little quicker than other strings

Yoyo string lab venom. Feels like a premium string without the high price tag and lasts a long time for me. Good medium thickness that works well with everything. Plenty of colors to choose from too
