Im very new to yoyoing, im sure ill stick with it and i heard kitty string is very good. Is it as good as it is hyped to be?
If so should i invest in 100 right away or maybe 5 to try out

Welcome!
String is a matter of personal preference. Kitty is good! I like Ziplines or Big Red Strings, but being new to the hobby, Iād suggest getting 5 of this, 5 of that, and seeing what you like.
Find a few variety packs. 100 strings you may not like would suck
Welcome to the hobby. Kitty is pretty much average imo
Get some variety packs and see what you prefer. Check out cakeās incredible string thread on this forum for ideas.
Thereās bulk string like Kitty and boutique string. Most of the boutique stuff like the famous Zipline air strings can be washed and reused over and over. They are more expensive, but they last a heck of a lot longer.
This.
Experiment and try, I kept thinking I found a good string but would try another and prefer that.
Hone and tune your preference and what you like in strings.
Kitty imo is really meh, never got the hype around it. A lot of strings perform the exact same for cheaper.
Zipline is crazy good but itās a big investment. Learn what kind of materials you like and then go crazy with zipline.
itās not really tho. when i played bulk poly i used a string a day. from a $30 100 pack thats roughly $0.30 per string x 30 days on average is a $9 monthly string tax. i can buy a pack of zipline execs for $7 for 3 so about $2.33 per string and i can play one string for an entire month. so $2.33 per month for amazing quality nylon vs $9 per month for bulk poly ![]()
im admittedly a zipline fanboy, but i also do believe it to be a better value as well
Itās better value in the long run with its durability for sure.
I guess Iām just a bit biased because in order to get a 5 pack of zsair and a 5 pack of skyline 3 with shipping it was over $120AUD to Australia
Donāt get me wrong though, Iām also a diehard zipline fanboy. The only reason it isnāt the only string I use is because Iām from AUS
It really depends on where you plan to take your throwing and preference.
If you plan to keep it casual, nylon is fun, or something like zipline could be nice i havenāt tried zip though.
If you plan on practicing heavily or meta, Iād recommend @p44company or OT.
My personal preference is p44 or OT slim, just depends on the yoyo and style.
Theyāre new and would tear through the zipline without gaining the appreciation of it. I would recommend the 100 kitty as you find your length and such. It is a good string for DNA and whips along with slack. Once you can make a string last a while then start looking at the string world
not sure what you mean as new players donāt play nearly as hard as experienced players. they donāt even throw breakaways as hard. sorry, Iām just not on this āplay crappy equipment when you startā train. ppl also say youāll slam your yoyo into everything in sight in the beginning so buy cheap but i just found that to be an extreme exaggeration in my personal experience and i would not personally give that advice to anyone, but thatās me
As a new person is learning tricks like the massively popular dna and everything else they are going to put the string through, knot after knot miss catches leading to lots of tension yes it will destroy the beloved zipline string. It isnt magical string here, so no it isnt recommending crappy equipment, kitty string would be a good start that can handle the tricks. They shouldnāt be paying near 10usd for 3 strings to start their journey on
When I was new I would use a single bulk poly for forever
Iām hesitant with p44 as they had issues shipping for a long while and soured on me. OT is great though.
we clearly had vastly different new player experiences
Iām on your side with this, as long as you play carefully I never experienced bad scratches or dings
Damn thats unfortunate about p44. Ive been debating on ordering some from them after using one string of theirs I really liked.
Also agree with what Brandon said about string when your new. They all seem pretty similar at first until you start doing slacks and whips. Iād go with trying sample packs. I prefer the Original Throw Sitanggang string after trying a bunch of different stuff but its all preference.
I cried when my first metal yoyoās got beat up. I got annoyed when some, not so durable plastics would break. I loved it when my plastic durable yoyo could take a beating and I didnāt have to worry about anything
I did practice mostly on concrete.
Also for the beginner and intermediate tricks you dont notice ANY difference from one polyester string vs another.
I donāt get why people recommend a variety pack. Thatās expensive and you still need to make a decision either way afterwards cause itās not enough to keep you going for a long time.
Itās only with advanced tricks that you can really experience the characteristics difference of the strings, so you wouldnāt know which one you like either way. Only in how sharp or bouncy they feel perhaps but thatās not really important.
I would just go with a 100 pack bulk polyester in a color you like. Kitty fat or c3yoyodesign pro string fat but anything else is fine too but rather get a thicker string than a thinner one. Most yoyoās bind better with thicker strings.
Something in the small functional part of my brain, is not quite understanding this ācostā?
I understand the number ā120āā¦. and also grasp the āAUDā, currency.
Could you please break this down for clarity?
ā¦I found this info on the Internet>(copied and pasted)> so I can see that it āisā possible to get āhosedā by choosing poorly.
What service did you use to generate such a āsubstantial cost for such a small order?
Treat yourself!
Buy some executive blend and some skyline 3.
