Show some wooden yoyos you've made

57.5mm x 37.5mm 57g, 6g CW

Budgeroo and Huon Pine laminate with matching weight. Matador spikes are flush on this one. Had another crack at Glen’s 4 hole response as this piece of Huon was incredibly smooth.
I think I’ll put a brass sleeve in the CW to bring the weight up a few grams, made it from offcuts so I had no idea what size or weight it would be.

Dude this looks amazing! You are getting really good. Are you selling these? And are you shipping to the states if you are?

Beautiful!

Thanks mate. Anything I make that plays better than a yoyo which I’ve paid for gets listed on the Yoyo Australia FB page. So far everything I’ve listed has sold pretty quickly. If there’s interest I can try posting a BST here.

The other stuff I make is too niche even for a FB group. I post on Gumtree my working prototypes of oboes, clarinets, recorders/whistles, rhythm bones, sold one of my CBGs there.

Posting to the US would be about $20 but it might be a huge hassle. I’ve never had any problems so far but articles of wood are on the list on the post office website.

Does anyone have any feedback specific to buying and selling wood yo-yos from BSTs?

Any customs delays or extra paperwork?

Ypu do need to fill out customs declatation forms when selling your wooden yoyos overseas. They aren’t usually delayed in customs.

I’ve never had a yoyo from Glenn that’s not eventually got to me in the US

I’ve only had one wooden yoyo shipped from overseas and it was one of Glen’s stuff ups. It got here pretty quick and was somehow only 40 shipped. I was curious how he was able to keep it so affordable with shipping to the states

Can confirm. Items shipped from AUS arrived much faster than items shipped from India or Europe.

Thanks everyone.
For some reason US to AU is roughly double the cost of sending AU to US.
With everything that’s going on around the world putting something on the slow boat is almost double the cost of economy air.

I have to check my maths but I think what I’ve sold in Aus would have worked out around $40-50US including postage if I’d posted a BST here.

I’d go ahead and add 5-10$ to that to cover the time and annoyance of filling out the customs forms.

Dude, for the last one you posted w/ the counterweight and everything. That would be a steal!

Just ordered some new equipment from Australia. Can confirn shipping was roughly 50$ USD.

That one would be more expensive than the eucalyptus and I probably couldn’t post it to USA anyway. Huon is protected and the budgeroo comes from an area which has recently been decimated by bushfires and can’t be replaced any time soon.

I’m looking into some less endangered species, but for now I only have timber for one more Budgeroo/Huon (possibly last one ever). Next up will probably be a couple more like the half-ebonised eucalyptus I was showing off a few weeks ago, that was my favourite for serious 0A. Also, highly polished wood counterweights were a terrible idea, I’m going back to upholstery leather with PVC core for now.

Regionals is in 6 weeks and this year is at the Werrd workshop, I thought a 0A routine on a wooden fixie would be a laugh. I really only made the new laminate to show off to Stu and Kahli. Last time I was at Nationals I rolled in with a broken yoyo and looked like a bum, I hope to be a bit more professional this time round.

Can’t wait to see some of your stuff come up on the BST here!

Went to buy a YYF tool with a recent order and couldn’t believe how expensive they are now. So I made a small string cutter from a little block of SpectraPly and a Stanley knife blade.

There was a time not too long ago where a person had to make everything. As a people…we have gotten so dependent on merchants. Way to go Buddy!! Excerpt your ingenuity!!

I made an inverse curve version of the half-swap and I’m loving the shape. 8mm axle after breaking a couple of testers over the past week. Despite the low weight spin time is excellent, just a touch bouncy coming into stalls too fast. Would’ve liked to clean up the tear-out on the sides but it’s lightweight enough already.
