@Glenacius_K I have a really light bloodcell (37g cedar) and would love another closer to 44-50g. If you’re making a few i’d be game for what ever wood you choose. Id like a ballsy too, looks fun, but i’m not sure if you are still making them.
Lol, you are kidding right? Your fixies are still very sought after. They also have great resale value too. Plus don’t you still have a waiting list for wood yo-yos? I am le-confused….
You should be. I’m confused too. Lol
I wish I could buy 2 of everything you ever made. I’ve only had the pleasure of throwing like 2 of your yo-yos and they are two of my favorite. They are pretty hard to get a hold of to be fair.
Hey, I had a question, if I ever get my lathe out of the bottom of my closet and actually got it set up, would it be effed up if I tried to make my own blood cell? I would, obviously, never attempt to sell or make money off them in any way, but I really look up to you as a maker and I think it would be cool to attempt to make one.
That is a tough question Mr. Glen.
Whenever I see your stuff pop up on BST, its gone pretty quick.
Maybe its a visibility thing? If I recall, there was a post with you saying something along the lines of; Not making yoyos till new shop in January.
So maybe people just dont know you have a list that they can get on and order your Yoyos.
I dont think you can go wrong with the Bloodcells. I also think that making some Harbingers could be a good idea for when the Metal Production drops. “This thing is amazing, I want to try the wood version.”
Thats the way it worked for me. Bought a RBC, then ordered the BC.
If you are still taking orders, Ill send you a DM.
Have fun.
That’s the boat Im in. But @Glenacius_K if you’re taking orders I’ll definitely be reaching out in a few weeks to get on the list!
Yeah, that would be a bit. Lol
Edit: It will be fine for you to give it a try to make one for youself.
I have yet to add any of your fixies to my collection(I’m on the lookout). But I’d do things for a BC. Lol.
Really? For my own personal use?
K.
I’m hoping to buy one one day. I always miss them by a hair. I know I could get on the list but I’m afraid I won’t have the money when it comes time to pay so I don’t want to make the commitment.
Sorry man. I didn’t even actually mean for personal use. More just to see if I could do it and to help build the skill. It would’ve been a one off that would most likely end up in the burn pile. Also, I’ve never attempted to turn a yo-yo, or anything ever. It wouldn’t have been good or pretty but don’t worry buddy, I hear you. I will never make any sort of attempt. Sorry for asking. I should’ve known better.
Lol
No harm in turning something for yourself for fun. Call it a White Blood Cell.
This looks to have been intended as a compliment and respect towards an artist and it’s being viewed as an insult to a businessman. I don’t think they’re even looking at it as an end product. It sounds like appreciation of the process.
That’s kind of how I felt. I think mr. Glen misunderstood and thought I was trying to make one (or several?) in lieu of buying one. I’d have to be pretty dense to think I would make a blood cell that would play anywhere near as well as something he made. Oh well though. I’d be surprised if my brain will ever let me actually get my lathe spinning anyways.
That being said, I would really like a wood blood cell. If anyone has one they’d be willing to trade, hit me up. I’d trade in their favor.
It will be OK to try to turn yourself a Bloocdell.
Thank you glen. Sorry to make such a stink for something that mostly exists in fantasy.
It really is OK. It’s only due to the scarcity of the product that you want to do it, so I understand.
There will come a time soon when I can make you a Bloodcell if you’ll still want one.
Scarcity with demand does often result in bootlegging. But I don’t think anyone in this community would maliciously do such a thing
Unless some kind soul comes through with a trade offer (unlikely considering my track record), I will DEFINITELY be wanting one. A two week-ish heads up would be really helpful so I can for sure have the money for you when it’s time but, yes! A thousand times yes!
And scarcity, truly, has little to do with it. There are hundreds of models of wooden yo-yos i could wish to replicate but, ever since I first saw the blood cell, it has been a dream to be able to craft something so beautiful. Not to claim as my own creation but just to say, TO MYSELF, “look at me, I made something as sick as THAT with my own hands”. I also find that when I want to learn to create something for myself, it helps to try and mimic the greats first.
I like to hand carve little caricatures and spoons and such and got halfway decent at it (@bushcrackt on insta if anyones curious). I had to follow a tutorial for my first carving and copied it almost to a t. After that initial carving, where I completely copied someone else’s work, I was able to start creating my own unique caraicatures and I really loved it and am very proud of (most of) them. I couldn’t have gotten there without copying someone first. I just really envy your work, man. I never meant disrespect.
Also wanted to throw out there that I would never copy anyones anything with the intention of capitalizing on it. I think capitalism is what’s wrong with the world.
Yeah, I’ve seen you there! Nice work!
