Show off your CLYW yoyos.

I almost blacked it out but chose the lazy route tbh. The punch stays next to the goose of course! Guy wright was a hero to younger me so the punch was a staple

Would you say the Kodiak is your fav? I don’t have any CLYWs and I’m looking for a good one. Not sure what to buy and it looks like there’s limited stock here on YYE store and elsewhere (and the Kodiak seems impossible to find unless I’m checking daily in the sell thread, which I’m not crazy about doing). Any recommendations?

Got back into throwing recently (after a few decades off) and I don’t have a CLYW yet. Any recommendations on what I should get of the ones that are actually attainable? I don’t even know where to start, especially considering so many of the best of the best are discontinued/out of stock.

I would go with the post above mine. The boy is fun, maneuverable, and floaty. The kodiak may be my favorite but it also has sentimental value to me. Go with what you can get that is not marked up to see if you like the brand then go from there.

It’s hard to recommend anything without specifying what you’re looking for in a yoyo.

If you value comfort in the hand and want a slower yoyo that’s more stable/powerful/forgiving/has a heavier presence on the string then the Borealis 2 is what you’d want. If you want something that plays lighter/faster/more agile, and don’t mind it being a bit less forgiving in play then you’d want a Boy. The Boy doesn’t have to be played fast though, the lighter feeling makes it pleasant to throw regardless of how you’re playing it. The Borealis 2 feels better in the hand, the Boy feels better on the string.

I’d say those are two pretty easy to find models, but they’re also on pretty different ends of the spectrum, both originally rooted in Zach’s style though. They’re pretty indicative of the quality of design and play feel of CLYWs. I prefer the Boy, but that’s my own personal preference based on how I like to play. The two posts above also echo that the Boy is a great option.

The day that I will show off my Chief will come… if Leonard wants. :joy:

Thanks for the tips. I honestly don’t really know what I’d like, but this helps. My collection is 15 unresponsives by 9 different companies so I might be a collector of companies, lol, not necessarily types of yo-yos. I’m not crazy about some, but I’ll still throw them a fair amount. My every day is the VTWO right now, but it varies. Again, thanks!

My last buy was the GY Mini Star 2, so I decided to go the opposite side of the spectrum and get the Gorge. Thanks, fellow Coloradan!

My curated CLYW and collab collection, organizing this made me realize I’ve owned a good number of other CL models and duplicates that i just didn’t click with.

Edit: this is the washed out white throw, a custom powdercoated Expedition
