I hesitate to offer advice on this one as doing it wrong can result in harming yourself or melting the plastic.
Might be something you can tinker with but might be just spare parts at this point

Bad News: Yo-yo’s axle is pretty much permanently stuck 
Good News: I might have a solution! If I get spacers that fit my aoe, I could use them to cover the extra millimeter or two to make the axle fit! Granted it would probably feel a bit different, but it works, it works!
