"Official" Noob 1A Contest/Battle Video Submissions

Well Swatnoodle everyone is waiting on you. I’m ready to start the next competition but you have to tell me exactly what you want as the winner that is your job haha. Soon as you message me the details we will begin, I like your bracket idea that you messaged me about a week or so ago, just finalize your request and I’ll post the next Contest/Battle!

How about…

a bracket battle (we would need an even amount of people)
we pick who battles who via a random drawing

the problem is I’m not sure how we should judge it. I do wanna limit to trick to make it somewhat fair for everyone, but it just feels kinda… boring if everyone is doing similar tricks. I also think we should have a penalty if you break the rules, so people don’t do the master tricks and all. Maybe expert 1 and under? because I assume all of us have been practicing over the 2 weeks since this battle has finished, so maybe move the level of tricks up a little? some input guys?

I use a beat DV888 and a Whip for 4a. Just saying.

I’m no expert at it either, but I am able to catch them and pull off the few tricks that I know.

Ok Bracket battle it is, I’ll figure out the judging details. You tell me the rules of the throw. How long, what tricks, what rules, and I’ll work on the judging.

I was thinking any type of style, so you can do 2a if you want. List the time you have been learning that style, what yoyo you are using, and your age. I was thinking for 1a, a limit of expert 1 and under? I’m not sure for other styles though. How about 1 minute again? You can only do so much before you run out of tricks with the trick limit.

Will it be like last time no editing tricks together?

and i will be happy to join the battle seems like a good one.

Ok how about this, I say keep it to 1A, or pick a different style but it will be hard to judge if there is a 1a vs 2a. You can do edits if you want, again swat noodle, just say it and call it a day, stop polling people and asking questions just say look! This is what it is! Now do it! haha

Alright. I say:

Any style you want

  • you have to state what style it is, so beginners know, haha
  • How long you have been learning that style, and how long you have been yoyoing in general

1 minute to throw whatever you want
name what yoyo you are using
Name age

Bracket style:
We would need an even amount of people. if not, certain people need a “bypass”.
so what we have a hat, bag, backpack, whatever, ad we have 2 of each number. Each contestant is given a number, and they face off whoever they draw the same numbers with. then you just do a bracket battle from there.

edit: oh, and since this is a beginner contest, probably any thing including expert 1 and below

Like i said before i would be happy to join. When do we have to submit the video.

Submit it when we ask for it haha. We haven’t even decided yet though.

Is it to late for me to join?

Hasnt started yet

Rules for editing:

You can throw as much as you want, whatever you want(within the guidelines of the battle terms). But, once you start, you cannot stop.

1: Editing DOES NOT count clipping out the beginning part where we see you turning on the camera.
2: Likewise, editing DOES NOT count trimming the part off where you’re turning OFF the camera.
3: The adding of a title card at the beginning(name, date, battle title if applicable) and other cards(throw, music, whatever) does not count but must be done in the proper locations.
4: The inclusion of a BUG is allowed, provided it is not distracting.
5: In the case of a time limit, it is suggested that you run the camera continuously. Use your return as a pause point for editing later. Choose your best stretch of time. You may NOT splice together different takes or locations of the recording.
6: If using music, you can use that to replace the audio recorded. You may wish to use music for this purpose to replace any directions you gave yourself for editing. However, using music is not a requirement, just a suggestion.
7: Lighting, contrast, picture framing and focus: Keep shadows and lighting in mind. Make sure you’re sufficiently far enough away from the camera so people can see your entire trick, which may include your face/torso/whole body. Also, keep in mind your shirt and/or pants/shorts/skirts(hey, I’m not judging your style), as well as your yoyo and string. Dark backgrounds with a light colored string work ideally. Neon string work best. Dark yoyos may not stand out too well against a dark background Keep in mind we want to see the yoyo, your hands and the string. If your image looks grainy, you don’t have enough light. It’s also better to have the camera further away and then zoom it in, provided your camera uses an optical zoom and not a digital zoom. You may need to disable your auto-focus.
8: If you’re having problems with things like lighting, go outdoors and have the sun in front of you with a soft background that will diffuse the light and not create hard reflective surfaces. It’s a cheap way to avoid spending money. Evaluate your presentation and your camera work. You may need to redo. As far as time of day, when the sun is up high, things work better. Lower down, such as morning or evening, can cause longer rays and a blue or red shift in color. Chances are you cannot do color correction.
