I just looked at my paypal history to see when I got my dm2, which was february 2nd. so got it by probably the 5th. so I’ve been yoyoing for however long that is. lol
I think I just kinda had a knack for it though. I mean, when I got my dm2, the first thing I learned to do was bind. well, I learned trapeze. Then bind.
And I practiced just whenever I had free time. so maybe an hour or two a day. I just basically started with trapeze, skipped ahead to double or nothing, and went from there.
well… As a kid, I remember messing around with like a dollar store yoyo. I thought going up and down was like the hardest trick. lol
It wasn’t until around 5 or 6 years ago that I learned that a yoyo could sleep, because a couple people at my middle school had duncan imperials. They didn’t do anything fancy, just throwing a sleeper and bringing it back up.
But really what got me into yoyoing (like actually learning tricks like this) was my friend had one of those cheap pocket pros zombies, and he showed me tricks like mach 5, and brain twister. I saw him do that, and I thought it was so cool. So I googled some yoyo stuff, and found this site. I watched some of andres videos, and I wanted to get his yoyo. so I ordered a dm2, and that was it. It just kinda exploded from there.
It looks like we have a couple of hours left of voting before we finalize the numbers and crown our first champion. If you have not yet voted, please do so now!
I’ve read alot of threads and this thread just has to be the nicest thread that I have seen. Everybody soo polite and willing to contribute, it really is refreshing to read something like this. Also it makes you want to read it, come on who dosen’t like reading Studio 42’s posts. Thanks everybody for showing us great talent and being soo polite, I hope to see other posts like these.

My apologies if I came off as harsh - you do have ridiculously crazy mad skills and seem very experienced for someone who has only been playing for that long. Whatever you’re doing, you’re doing it right.
I still like Gmana though - just because he followed the rules and made some really nice looking combos with very basic tricks.
As the winner, Swatnoodle will have the opportunity to choose the next style of contest/battle for all of the newer players to participate in. Hope to have something posted by Monday. It will then be open again to any and all players who are newer to the activity. Stay tuned and congrats again to all of those who participated and voted!
Congrats Swat! Good job. Personally I really like your style, I think it looks nice and smooth. I think you got some serious potential, and I’m interested to see your progression. You should make a video in a month or two to show your progress. Good job on the comp it was a lot of fun!
Thanks! It’s only cause I was stuck in china for a month and those tricks were all I could practice. Your video was pretty sick too. You know much more tricks then I do. I’m trying to think.of ideas foe the next comp. Anyone got ideas?
Oh I think my wife will kill me if I have to start practicing 4a over the next week. I don’t have enough money to replace what it would take for me to be apart of that haha. I’d still do it though! If I can ever win one, I’m going all AP! I’ve got some ideas for that Ok Swat we all waiting, what is the final!
Ha! My wife pretty much dislikes everything I do, so as soon as I started throwing, she was “what are you doing playing with a kid’s toy”… Whatever. Now I think she wants to throw.
I also did a purchase recently that included stuff to have readily available so when I’m ready for something, it’s waiting for me. Got a pair of yoyos ready to go for 3A, and a couple for learning 4A with(Big Yo and Fiesta XX) and when I want to venture into 2A, a pair of YYJ Unleashed. Of course, there were others in the box just for self-indulgence.
I think any challenge should use the same basic criteria, but I think with anything past 1A(since I think we all start with 1A), would be to add a second “How long you been doing this style” as well. I certainly think style specific challenges would be cool. It would be restrictive, but that’s just the nature of it. I don’t see that being bad. Not everyone can qualify for every challenge.
I also like the idea of listing the make/model of the yoyo used. Seems everyone wants to know what the other folks are using. Optional of course.
I don’t know enough about video editing to really add things to a video, but I could put in a description I guess. 4a sounds nice, but lots of beginners dont have 4a yoyos. 1& is the norm, but we want to do something different… So… Maybe like a bracket style battle? But I do feel advance and under is very limiting…
