New release from Markmont. - The Markmont. Classic Magnum Opus!

Could be either item.

The string is definitely quicker/easier to test though. Single out the issue.

Bearings have fiddly little parts that are sensitive to how they are assembled. Make sure the shield and clips are facing the right ways if you take them apart and reassemble.

Yea try thinner string first. The pads and bearing will always break in further regardless :+1:t6:

You can clean your bearing with mineral spirits (let it fully dry after) to help as well

If you throw it and give it a big bounce, does the string start to wrap around the yoyo (even if it doesnā€™t bind)? If not, then what I was saying probably isnā€™t relevant.

The behavior ā€¦ a hard throw and I tug the string head-high and it snaps up to my hand. Also, if I try a laceration style pull to trapeze, that also is binding it and often slamming my knuckles. I added a bit of lube to one side of the bearing ā€¦ and Iā€™m trying the same string I had earlier and it seems to be a bit better. I think the bearing just needed some love.

Plutonium is rather thick, try playing the Markmont Formula white Dragon that came in the box. Mine is playing smooth like champagne :champagne:, gotta love the bubbley @Markmont

Looks and sounds like an excellent yoyo. Canā€™t wait to try one at some point. Thereā€™s just one problemā€¦ if this is your magnum opus everything here on out will by default be inferior

Got mine yesterday. Still pretty new to throwing but Iā€™ve acquired a bunch already and this is definitely my favorite. Landing kwyjibo on it was an absolute blast. Itā€™s just so pretty too, feel lucky to have been able to cop the black/silver

Is there a thicker version of the markmont formula string that came in the box? Really digging how it feels but used to snappier binds.

Cumulus Foam: This formula thickness is actually slightly ā€˜thickerā€™ then DRAGON

Not sure if other folks saw this. I lubed the bearing ā€¦ but the bearing appears to be not spinning. I swapped out a OD bearing from a Halifax I bought, and itā€™s all good. Not sure if thatā€™s a QC issue on ODs side ā€¦ or what. Regardless ā€¦ itā€™s a beautiful yoyo.

Lubing a bearing will cause it to slow. I currently run all bearings dry but even when I did use lube it was thin lube and I would literally get a tiny drop on a pin and touch that to the inner race. A full drop out of the bottle to the bearing would instantly make the bearing responsive. I think youā€™re probably using too much lube. Try cleaning and running dry to really test that bearing. Also cleaning means soaking in mineral spirits or acetone (I use 100% acetone found in the nail polish aisle) and then drying completely (I use compressed air). If youā€™re not cleaning properly that can also cause issues. OD 10 ball bearings are amazingly smooth I always leave my markmonts stock.

I had one bearing that still wonā€™t spin, despite very careful lighter fluid soaking and drying. I got another 2 and they both work really well.

Thatā€™s a great question lol

Yes there is sir - DRAGON is what you want. Thicker than that would be Cumulus Foam.

Hah naw B - this is just the Magnum Opus of the MC; not my singular Magnum Opus lol

Not mine. Did you try a different set of SE?

The one I got was super smooth!?! Did yours have spikes or ultralights?

Mine did. It doesnā€™t bother me much but I was surprised. I got the fade with the blue SEs
