New Markmont. Formula Strings!

Most would probably say that Night Moves is a hair thinner than Cirrus Foam. Night Moves plays faster, whippier and stiffer. Cirrus Foam is more laid back.

Someone sent me some Markmont strings in a bst sale… and I gotta say, these strings last so rediculously long. It’s worth the money.

Is night moves string wound more tightly than cirrus foam?

Yes it is. The texture of the string requires it by nature to be wound tighter.

Cool also I am stuck on thinking about trying out night moves or 65 string for tech tricks and I like the tight binds on the cumulus foam string but on some dense tech tricks I cant do more than one trick after that so how is 65 string for tech tricks and I am using the sf motive which is a good bi metal yoyo.

The following are optimal for technical string play:

Night Moves is the most optimal for tech tricks and is thinnest (close to standard Kitty). Closely followed by Draken. It is the least resistant so the string glides on the bearing the smoothest with least grab. Very stiff ‘crunch’ like texture.
If you still prefer the thickness of Cumulus, then Blue Eyed White Dragon is similar thickness but with same bearing resistance that Night Moves has.

65 probably the best binding of all formulas - softer to the touch like standard cotton/poly blend (its 100% poly though)

Cirrus Foam is like half way between 65 and Night Moves in terms of texture. Has similar binding characteristics to Cumulus Foam, it’s the same fabric just in thinner build.

Yesterday I washed the Cumulus which I had been using since the start of December last year, it was starting to look a bit freyed and dirty. I was surprised at just how ‘fresh’ it was once dry, as if it was brand new!

That’s great to hear!
I’ve been using a Cumulus a ton these past few weeks and it too is starting to fray and it’s looking a bit dirty.
Still plays fantastic though!
I’ll give it a wash here soon.

I been also using the Sōchí String that came with my sf yoyo more and I like the thickness of the string the most and I was looking at the Amy string and I been wondering how thick is it compared to Sōchí string?

It’s pretty similar. Possibly a hair thicker - the bigger difference is it’s denser.

How is the thickness compared to Cumulus foam and how good is it for tech tricks or dense tricks while having a snappy bind when you need to bind the yoyo in a low rpm spin.

I recommend Amy for more of a classic ‘feel’. It’s very good for binding as are Cirrus Foam and 65. If you wanna get into more particular play characteristics I’d take a look at the guide on the site. But here is a quicky:

Fast, technical, whippy, slacky
Night Moves (thinest)(stiff and fast)
Draken (a hair thicker then NM - same thickness as sochi)(stiff and fast)

Whippy - moves at normal speed
Cumulus Foam (thick as kitty fat)
Cirrus Foam (sochi thickness - same fabrication as cumulus)(better for technical vs cumulus)

Thick, Fast, Whippy
Blue Eyed White Dragon (stiff but firm pebbled in texture)
Copernicus (soft)(fantastic against humidity)
DRAGON (most wild)

Standard Jammer like Kitty or Sochi
Amy
Rebby
65

65 bind the best out of all formulas

Night Moves is the stiffest and fastest - it and Draken are the best for technical

Cumulus isn’t meant for technical - folks just use it that way. Cirrus Foam is half as thick and intended for technical alternative.

How come the 65 string long string option for a 10 pack cost 90 dollars and the other strings cost 15 and 12 dollars for a 10 pack long string option?

Woah. I might need to try cumulus.
