May I ask “How are you winding the Yoyo”?
Are you using the Loop over the finger and wraping 4 to 5 times under the loop before you continue to wind? Like on a Unresponsive yoyo?

My RBC has, like every responsive yoyo, eventually gotten less responsive after a lot of use. I don’t remember which lube I use for that tiny bearing, but I think it was thick and it didn’t perfectly land in the bearing, but the yoyo did go back to responding better afterward. Same with the Origen, Doc Pop Thing and the Mijo PC. The MR85 or whatever that tiny bearing is seems to need less frequent oil/lube than most responsive bearings, but it does need some in my exp.
I love this. You get people of all levels and you never know. I started winding yo-yo strings in 1981.
Here’s a link to a video finally.
Oops. I suppose I should actually add the link.
Have you tried both in a new set of pads, new bearing, and fresh string at the same time?
You don’t need new pads, string or bearing. Just pack some Vaseline into the bearing and it’ll be responsive again.
I am so glad you didn’t take offense to the question. Your join date showed April, so maybe it was that easy.
It wasn’t even that my good Gnome. It was sheer idiocy on my part. I had that bearing in there just ever so crooked. It felt like the yo-yo was tight but the halves were ever so slightly too far apart. I tried to tighten a hair more and it felt like I had stripped it but it was forcing the bearing into place. Now it functions perfectly. I’m already scared to death I’m going to strip that tiny little axle as it is. So when it tightens up I stop. I tried giving it a little more and it started feeling like it had stripped somewhere but I couldn’t find any evidence. The next time I put it together it got that strippy feeling and I just kept turning. It then “actually tightened and voila. Thanks for caring and sharing.
Your post said it happened to both of your RBCs. Was it the same issue on the other one or something different?
I just can’t remember what happened with that one. But I do remember the first one also feeling like it was going to strip as well. The bearing fits super duper tight on the post in both of them, probably all of them( testament to the fine build quality) and it’s so small it’s very easy to have it a little skewed and not know it. And because the bearing hugs the post so tight it really feels like you have it tight as can be. My brain is damaged and isn’t so good anymore so it’s quite likely that’s exactly what happened with the first one.
