I wonder how if feels to grow up in the advanced yo-yo world. I grew up in a pre internet and pre unresponsive world.
I could only imagine. The internet is so useful, we have access to any and all info we need.
Welcome to the forums! Looks like youâve started off great with some Magicyoyos. The Tasmanian Tornado bearing is a great choice for a bearing as well. You have great taste! Try out some laceration binds, like the ghost bind:
I think itâs easy to forget this when youâve been throwing for a while, but having a good, stable power throw and learning to consistently hit the string when maneuvering the yoyo are both skills that take time to develop. Having an alternative way to âthread the stringâ that doesnât require the yoyo to be in motion is easier to learn and more forgiving when someone is still trying to figure out how to do all the other basic things.
Hey guys. Andrew here.
Ive been hanging around reading everything. Im a 50 something year old who had a coca cola back in the day. I bought my daughter (9) a yoyo (Butterfly XT) 2 months ago on a whim, and then started to throw. And then I couldnât stop. And still, I simply cannot stop. So wind forward 2 months, I now have a Replay Pro, A Silencer and also a Confusion. I have done the âFirst 50 tricksâ and starting get onto some more. I am loving it, its so good for your hand eye coordination, it makes you think, you can do it ANYWHERE and âŚwaitâŚam I an addict? So, Iâm a bit slower than I was so I cant see me being great and things take some time to learn, probably struggled most with plastic whip and Eli Hops but you know, perseverance - although I think consistency is key so not working too fast, just going over and over and over the ones I learn.
And now my Daughter is getting inspired, taking her yoyo to school everyday and her friends are all getting theirs out and asking me to make strings. From little things big things grow and yoyos are cool again But I must admit, I didnât know so many strings were needed- I now own about 150
I can see a few more yoyos being added soon too.
Anyhoo! Thats me, Im the one reading all your awesome help and info. FANTASTIC forum. So nice, you guys truly rock. Back to throwing

Hello new here. Yoyoing for 2 months. Love the Death Adder 2 and really want to get my hands on a the Basalisk or Basalisk D!
Welcome to the Forums!
Welcome to the forums! Glad to have you here. Put out a looking for post in the BST for the Basilisk and Basilisk D, maybe someone will hook you up with one!
Hi, my name is Andrew and Iâve been throwing for a few months now. I remember in the 90âs I always wanted to do yoyo tricks, but the options of yoyoâs were limited. My mind was blown when I saw whatâs been popping for the last decade, so Iâve happily jumped on the yoyo train since that discovery!
Welcome back to yoyos!
Lots of different styles, tricks, and yoyos available now.
I am sure you will find lots of great information on this forum.
Welcome to the forums! Glad youâre back! There are way more things to discover about modern yoyo so stick around and listen!
The gtr looks and plays nice from what i see with some pros throwing i am getting a green one. its very similar to grasshopper gtx looks like
My name is Bill. I was part of the yo-yo fads in the 70s. Back then Yo-yos seemed to come and go about every 3 years. I still have my yellow glitter Duncan Imperial and I remember having a Duncan Butterfly as well
A couple years back I found in the house a Red unopened Yomega Fireball which I do not recall purchasing. This resparked my interest. Seemed as if I was destined to get back into it. I also found out all along the Duncan Factory (Flambeau) was a half hour from my house. Then on the internet, I saw that worlds were in Cleveland. Figured Iâd check it out. I was hooked.
I went to worlds, not knowing anything about unresponsive. I met quite a few cool people. Like asking Michael Jordan about his shoes, I walked up to Mark Montgomery who was just standing outside the venue and asked him what kind of Yoyo he threw and why that one. He said he threw it cause he designed it. Yah kinda lame, but he smiled at my naivety.
I play old school and not very well. My new $100 collection has 2-loop360, Hornet, limelite, Pro-z, and a merlin. Plus lube, spare strings, bearing tool, belt holder and stickers. I got a $12 case at harbor freight to hold them. pix attached.
Welcome, hope you enjoy your stay! The Harbor Freight case is a great idea.
Time to have fun with yoyos again! Welcome back and welcome to the forums!
Hello everyone! Iâm Yoyodog in Japan, started yoyoing 4 months ago. I have recently become interested in yoyos outside of Japan and have already traded with some people on the forum. I hope to make many friends here.
Welcome to the forums! Thatâs a nice looking case you have there! Glad youâre back, maybe you can check out the RBC for that old school responsive feel.
