What up yoyo people? Dan here from Ontario Canada. I did a lot of responsive yoyoing when I was in my late teens/early twenties (about 15 years ago). 38 now and 5 weeks into throwing again and the world of unresponsive play (a lot has changed!). I am a bit of a serial hobbiest… I jump from thing to thing and love to collect/try everything to see what all the hype is about. Currently 30+ throws strong in my collection with about 7 of those still in the mail. So far really digging one drop and CLYW throws. Of the throws I have I think I enjoy organics the most (OD Overture probably being my favorite at the moment). As far as trick progression is concerned I’m able to do the mach 5/cold fusion/barrel rolls cleanly and consistently. Currently working on reverse barrel rolls and combos including flips. Really enjoying my re-introduction and taking my time to get consistent with different tricks. I’ll be hanging around here a lot as with Covid going on I spend a LOT of time on my computer.
Hi my name is Rob. I think I started with yo-yos around 1986 playing Duncan’s. I was in a couple competitions and even won a trophy with Don Duncan Jr’s signature. I was a big fan of Tom Kuhn yo-yos, and still think they are some of the most beautiful and well made yo-yos ever made. I just started playing a little again recently and ordered a One Drop Deep State off yo-yo expert and found the forum. I’ll let you know what I think of it when I get it.
What a great trophy!
Like you, and many of us, I returned recently (2018) after a long break from responsive play. I also got a Deep State as one of my early throws on return, and found it to be a great bridge between my past enjoyment of yoyo, and modern unresponsive play. I still really love it, and hope you do too!
That describes exactly what I was hoping it would be like. Thank you
Just got my One Drop Deep State. I ordered it on Friday after 5pm and received it today (the following Monday)! Super fast service. Thank you yo-yo expert.
The deep state is amazing. I don’t have any experience with a good quality modern unresponsive yo-yo, but this is the smoothest longest spinning yo-yo I’ve ever played with. And it is more responsive than I thought it would be, but it still sleeps really well. Well worth it.
Amazing way to get back to yoyoing, I hope you enjoy your journey.
Hi, I’m Andy. I’m from Boulder, Colorado.
I’ve been playing with yo-yos off and on since I was maybe 5 years old.
Since that was over three decades ago, I learned mainly on classic fixed axle responsive yo-yos.(string tricks and looping)
My first was a no-brand wooden Imperial-style model with a picture of Snoopy on the side I got as a birthday present. I also found some early Duncan Imperials in my parents’ junk drawer and played with them all through my childhood.
The first one I bought myself was a Tom Kuhn No-Jive 3-in-1.
I started getting back into yo-yos a couple years ago by way of an interest in begleri and other skilltoys.
I’m learning unresponsive but haven’t got many tricks under my belt aside from the bind.
I am learning some modern fixed-axle tricks, too.
Welcome to our little yoyo world. I live in Pennsylvania and it’s below freezing. I’m glad you joined us!
Used to love Yo’ing back in the day- Zany Brainy demo days, Golden Apple, all the good SoCal stuff.
Welcome
Welcome!
Welcome to our forum
Welcome aboard. That are ya throwing these days?
Hey guys, my name is James, I live in VT. I started with a Yomega fireball and saber wing back in middle school many years ago. Recently picked it back up. Throwing a YYF Replay at the moment, have a couple of non responsives on order to try my hand at that.
Hey James, welcome!
Welcome back to yoyoing!
I bet it feels pretty darned good to put that slipknot on your finger again, doesn’t it? Welcome back!
Hi I’m Larry, I’ve been at it for about a year and a half. I picked it up because of my kids and can’t put it down. I’ve got about 15 yo-yos and like organics. My favorites right now, I keep switching between is the speedaholic xx and the new Batsquatch.
Welcome from Pennsylvania. I too find it difficult to keep a yoyo out of my hand! I’m glad you found Yoyo. Or did Yoyo find you?
Hey there everyone Curt here. Started yoyoing back in the mid 90s but dropped off around the early 2000s and recently dived back into it last year so definitely feel like I have a lot of catching up to do to say the least lol. Anyway being a little more old school I have an affinity for responsive and fixed axle especially wood play but appreciate all aspects of the hobby. Look forward to catching up and learning and meeting new people
