Hi everyone. I havenāt picked up a yo-yo in forty years or so. On a recent trip to Disneyland with my daughter we were killing some time one evening at Downtown Disney and came upon a Duncan pavilion. Watched a young man perform some really awesome tricks which piqued my interest so I purchased a Metal Drifter for my Daughter (myself) to play with. Being the era of internet forums and youtube videosā¦ well here we are.
Currently we are practicing the basics, getting the yo-yo to sleep and return. Iām getting the hang of that fairly quickly but one thing I notice is that sometimes the spin is not stable. The yoyo doesnāt spin out but it wobbles. Other times itās stable but off axis (only way I know to describe it at this point) sleeping stable but at an angle. Obviously this has to do with my technique and how I throw.
I remember trying to read trick books as a kid and giving up. Videos and tutorials will make this enjoyable and itās a relatively small investment to get started. Hopefully my daughter will take an interest and get some of her friends involved. She is really into Kendama as that craze went through the school here.

Welcome. Practice is the best suggestion I can make. Isnāt the Duncan Booth great? Considering where I live visiting the booth once a year is the only chance I have to see someone throw. If you are interested there are several players who are playing only fixed axle yoyoās like what a few of us grew up with.

Hi everyone, my name is Jon and I got into YoYoing about 25 years ago. My folks got me one of Tommy Smothers Yo Yo Man instructional videos and I watched it constantly to pick up the basic tricks. I toyed with it for quite a while, but after moving, getting married, my yoyos sadly stayed in storage for about ten years 
Recently a friend pointed out that he was learning to throw, so I deceided to break out my old collection. I figure enough stuff has changed that Iāll probably need to pick up a new yoyo to get started again, but itās nice to know that I have a place to go to learn:)

Iām Ben. I currently study jazz at UNC in the town of Greeley, Colorado. Just got back into yoyoing lately from my buddy Zach Schutte (Look him up on youtube, heās got really creative tricks and style). I started back in 2010 but ended up taking a big hiatusā¦ Now that Iām back, Iām loving it more than ever.

Yo! everyone been on the forum awhile now but just now getting around to posting on this! XD
I started yo-yoing with my dadās old broken dollar yoyo and eventually started to get bored when on a camping trip I learned around the world and cradle this help keep me going looking for yoyo trick books, (cause at that time all the yoyo tutorials I could find on youtube were ether too hard or low quality) after yo-yoing for a while I got a little bored of yoyo even though I had learned a lot of Kyle Veghās tricks at www.Rethinkyoyo.com I sat on the computer and though to my self, āHey robot dancing is cool youtube has every thingā¦ What the heck lets see what I can find!ā Since then I have learned robot dancing mostly using El tiroās free tutorials on his site, www.brambilabong.com I have since done one big performance in a talent show both yo-yoing and dancing switching between yoyo and dance and at one point I yoyo and dance at the same time! 
The performance was awesome and got comments the whole time I was there even though I got a huge knot on my first yoyo trick!!! XD my dad took the knot out so I was able to use it for the last three fourths of it! I have had a blast yo-yoing and Dancing and never stop getting comment on both! I think the yoyoexpert community is AWESOME and answered every question I have posted vary quickly! Thanks everyone for making yoyoexpert forum what it is today!!!

My name is michael. I yoyo on my freetime cause its like a really advanced chinese trap. When its on my finger it does magic things. Im in california and my fingers sweat so the string gets stuck.
