Hello!
I am 55 years old. I played with yoyos when I was about 10. I had a Duncan Butterfly that was made of wood. My Mom bought it for me from a close-out bin. It didn’t have a string. It cost 10 cents. My brother showed me how to make a string out of some cotton string he had. I played with that yoyo ALL THE TIME. Learned to do Walk the Dog, Around the World, Rock the Baby. Then one day I just lost the Butterfly and after looking for it for a couple days just forgot about it. For Father’s Day in 2014 my kids gave me a Magic T-5 Overlord. Oh My Goodness how yoyos have changed?!?! I don’t know if I’ll ever catch on to the new tricks and styles of play. Heck I’m still struggling with doing the Bind and not end up with this weird extra string loop sticking out the side. The dang yoyo doesn’t wind up smoothly EVER! Haha. But I discovered the Loop 360. Well what-do-ya-know?-a yoyo that will come back with a slight tug. What will they think of next?

I am enjoying this re-discovered hobby a lot. I hope that this forum will be able to help me find some answers and that I’ll make some friends along the way. Dire Straits said it best; “Look at them Yo-yos! That’s the way ya do it! Ya play the guitar on the MTV! That ain’t workin’ That’s the way ya do it. Money for nothin’ and chicks for free!” That’s what I’m talkin’ 'bout!!!

I always find it fun to find a fully grown adult yoyo enthusiast. Yes, yo-yoing has changed since we were kids.

I bought a brain yoyo for my son for Christmas and found myself playing with it way more than he did. The day after Christmas I bought a YYF Velocity and a YYF 888. I’ve enjoyed playing with both and I’ve made it through all the beginner and Intermediate tricks taught here. I’ve really enjoyed learning, practicing, and improving my yoyo play. Its time to get a serious yoyo and work on the more advanced tricks.
I have enjoyed this site and reading all your comments and help.

I think the YYF 888 is serious enough to do all the tricks.

Mine in the DV888 that is responsive, a little too responsive. I didn’t know enough at the time to get the unresponsive kit. So my DV888 is not serious. Got a Dark Magic 2 in the mail today and learned to bind. This is now getting awesome.

My name is Lauren, I’m 19, and I’ve been yoyoing for 11 years (on and off). I started thanks to my dad and i spent the first few years yoyoing without tutorials due to the fact my parents restricted computer access (and i was terrible at yoyoing). As soon as I found out about the sport and community behind it I became obsessed and now I perform for charity and school events. I hope to compete and maybe get sponsored one day
