Introduce Yourself!

Hey guys, my name is Tim and I’m from NJ. After a couple months of reading the site and the forums I finally decided to make an account to hopefully find a meet or a competition somewhere around me. I’m constantly reading forums but this is 1 of maybe 3 I’ve ever actually registered to post on. When I was a kid I got a couple cheap Yomegas (x - brain wing; fireball) that I had long forgotten about until I was cleaning out my closet a couple months ago back in September and found my brain. I never would’ve guessed that it would spark an obsession that has now consumed my life haha. I went thru the tricks here and I’m now working on expert part 2. My collection has also expanded quite a bit; I started with a few Yomegas (fireball, raider, xodus ii, maverick). I now have a couple magic yoyos and a few Yyf 's. My 2 main throws are currently a DV888 and a Yomega glide (both with twisted trifectas). And now my lengthy introduction is complete

Welcome to the forum. Sounds just like I started out with all the cheaper Yomega’s. Good luck with everything. If you get stuck don’t give up.

I’m Drew I just started to young a the week of this last Christmas. I’m doing ok burned tho the beginner and intermediate part on the yoyo expert trick card. I got a few yoyos Yoyofactory Supernova, Yoyofactory Severe, Onedrop Dingo, Yoyofactory 2.0 California state championship yoyo, and a dark magic. Look to hang with anyone in Nor Cal

Welcome! Lots of people in California… Check out the Contest Clubs and Events area on here ;).

Hi everyone. I am a typical teen from SG and look forward to meeting you all. About myself: Istarted wanting to get into yoyoing at the age of 6 when I saw my brother playing with what I believe was a Dark Magic (The original one with starburst and an O-ring) After finding out it didn’t come back with a tug, I gave up. Then I learned more about yoyoing from the internet. When I got my Duncan Pulse (My first ever yoyo), I actually questioned myself if it was unresponsive, not knowing that looping yoyos were always responsive XD I quickly learned all the basics and picture tricks. From there i moved on to a Shaqler Star and finally my favourite yoyo, the C3YoYoDesign Level 6. I started doing horizontal tricks and I am (From YoYoExpert’s trick list) able to the ALL the Basic to Intermediate tricks, most of the Advanced to Expert tricks and some of the Master tricks. My fave yoyo player HAS to be Marcus Koh.

im Teh Stearnsy. Im a dude. I started yoyoing because of Zortcommander. (hes a beast ;D )

Welcome!

Welcome! If you have trouble on some of the master tricks you can ask questiones in the ■■■■■■■■■■ section of the forums

Welcome to the club! Welcome to the club! Welcome squidward! Welcome squi… What am I doing?

Hello all, I’m fairly new to modern yo-yoing and I’m working through the tricks in the learn section. When I was younger, I would often get yoyos from Walmart or wherever and get good enough to get frustrated with the bad yoyo and then quit. This time I have better throws and I have nothing to get frustrated with except myself! haha

I’m from south Texas and grown with a wife and kids. My co-workers think I’m a fool and I get a lot of “OMG! I haven’t seen a yoyo in 10 years!” and (while standing in an asphalt parking lot) “Can you walk the dog?!?”

I got a couple of new throws yesterday. A ghost edition Dark Magic II and this metal sharper image transaxle thing that isn’t as terrible as you might think, but almost. The sharper image one was a gift and is really responsive and vibey (although I can pull off some beginner string tricks with it), so maybe I’ll carry it as a “hey! I wanna try that!” loaner.

So, I like the forum and look forward to learning more. Glad I found it.

Happy throwing!

Welcome Mofoya! Always nice to see adults returning to the hobby after having started as kids. (just like me :D)

Just like me, too, Mofoya! I get a lot of “Wow, I haven’t seen one of those in years!” (probably the most common comment), but only this weekend did I finally get my first negative comment. Crotchety old dude goes, “Too old to be playing with that” as he walks by.

I just smiled and said, “NEVER too old to be playing and having fun!”

He didn’t stop to pursue that line of thinking, but doesn’t matter. I don’t do it to impress other people, and if anybody looks down on me for it, they’re not the kind of person I’m particularly concerned with anyhow.

For that one negative comment, there have been dozens of positive comments and conversations. So it’s all good.

Lol! GregP!

That old dude was probably mad because his childhood throw would never come back to him!

hey im marcel and I started yo-yoing 3 years ago and stopped because I couldn’t even land trapeze :'(. one year later I thought I had what it took to become a master but that only lasted a 2 weeks lol. but 3 months ago me and my friend stared stared from beginner and now im a expert part 1 1a beginner 2a intermediate 4a and almost completed 5a. and cant wait to begin mobeus (or how ever its spelt)

Welcome! You must be a really fast learner

Hello all!

I have been yoyoing almost 2 (well, 3 now haha) years now.

You might call me advanced, not sure.

I have a small collection of high ends, and some random cheaper ones for fun and other styles.

My favorite one at the time is the C3yoyodesign Krown!

Hope to spread some of my knowledge here, and hope to get to know you guys well!

Nice to hear your keeping it cool for the oldies. Im married as well and 25 so I wouldn’t consider myself old, but still old enough to have people wonder why I still am playing with a toy. I yoyo where I work all the time but their used to it by now and its only like 10 of us. We will see what my fellow students in my masters program will react like when I give it a throw on campus. Im sure ill get some stares, if not ill be bummed lol, kinda looking forward to people watching and asking me to walk the dog. Good luck on your journey man!

Side note: my fave throw has changed recently. It became the Shutter by YoYoFactory.

Welcome!
