Introduce Yourself!

already making my own string… Got that covered.

Well, all this time ive never posted an introduction here. I do have one on another forum, but that was a long time ago…

Yup, so my name is Jason Cheow, 20 years going on 21 (yeah im one of those older players) Ive been playing for slightly over 3 years (time flies) For now im living in Singapore, but will be going to Australia in a couple weeks time to pursue a degree in law (University of Tasmania, so any players around that area, pm me or something) Yoyoing wise, I play mainly 1a, with a little 5a sometimes, though really, my 5a is pretty bad. I am currently on C3, so you guys will probably guess what my favourite throws are.

My favourite players… well, theres too many to list, but 3 players who have really influenced my style are John Ando, Anthony Rojas and Darrell Mitchell. Other favourites include Zach Gormley, Isaac Sams, Andrew Maider, Kengo Kido, etc.

I do try to compete as often as possible in 1a and still hope to amidst studies, maybe even make it to Worlds or 44Clash one day, so yeah, See you guys around

Jay, I don’t think you’re one of the older players. I’m pushing 40 and I know there are older guys than me around!

haha i see. Well by the Singapore community’s standard, im average-slightly older

Heheh, gotcha. Welcome aboard!

No, no, no.
It’s not that you look older, it’s that he looks younger :D.
And he did say, “Kinda look like a motorcycle bike rider…”
Anyway, Welcome!

No swearing please

Hello My Name is J.Mark Cedy S.Molina and I’m from Philippines. I started playing yoyo at December 27,2012. I found this site by google and searched yoyo tutorials. I just accidentally saw Hiroyuki Suzuki’s yoyo performance on 2005 and I got amazed, I never thought that yoyo can be played like this awesome, I thought it only happens in anime. And my curiosity brought me to the world of yoyos

my favorite trick is Eli Hops

Well guess i was wrong “daamn” a swearword??? Are you kidding me?? Sorry. This forum is way too stuffy…i never thought of the yoyocommunity being so victorian. Its ridiculous. So i guess i’d better just go and join a forum thats not on a dann power trip. Im so sorry but i didnt know these forums have religious group rules. I understand many words should be onitted but. This is a jok. So bye i guess
P s. Talking in the thirs person is rude but i never complained (saying HE looks like a bike rider not YOU look like one. So i guess damn is swearing to you guys. But ignorance and rudeness is fine

Well, you may never see this, Rich, but everything within context… both in terms of the person mentioning that (who is probably just a young person trying to do what they think is right, even if it’s misguided) but in terms of the forums themselves.

Me, I don’t consider it a swear word, and I’d be likely to use it in a post by accident some day. But on the other hand, this forum is full of members from the youngest ages up to middle-aged dudes like me. It’s not just my peer group.

I think there’s a problem not with stuffiness but with micro-moderators. We do NOT need members trying to enforce the rules, period. It’s helpful sometimes (“Hey, Jack… your BST is going to be canned without photos!”) and not helpful other times (“You shouldn’t revive old threads.”)

Let the moderators do their job. It’s useful for members to respect the rules when they know them and to use good judgment in general, but the onus isn’t on us to know every subtlety of every rule. I wouldn’t have known that word is considered a “swear” either…

So, welcome again! Goodbye and best wishes if you’re not back… but you should stick around.

Hi. Greg and everyone. I just wanted to say im sorry for the nitpick and making a big deal over something trivial. Irealise kids use the forums…and i can understand too that you dont want parent sayiing hurtful things to. The BEST community anywhere. For anything
Anyway i hoow yourw glad to have me back.

Hello all! My name is Trevor Moreno and this will be my 10th year throwing yo’s. I feel kinda weird yoyoing for so long and only meeting about 4 other yoyoers. I’m 23 and live in Sacramento CA. Hope to meet all you throwers and cant wait to learn from so many different styles of play. Just recently decided to take yoyoing more seriously and expand my trick vocab.

Hey Trevor! You’re lucky, because right in Sacramento, they are going to have the California State Yo-Yo competition on Saturday, March 2, 2013. It will be at the Sacramento Downtown Plaza. There will be a wide range of yoyoers there from beginner to pro. Last year it was a blast. Come have some yoyoing fun and hang out with the crowd.
