What’s good guys. Yoyo_garden on IG and Reddit. I have purchased/sold/and traded a decent amount on those platforms and wanted to say hello. New to the expert forums and waiting to get into the BST here.
Welcome to the forums!! i hope you are successful on the BST!
Hello my name is Lourens 48 years old and i’m a complete beginner. I did some yoyoing when I was a kid in the early eighties but nothing like the amazing trics I now see on internet. I’m here to inform myself on basic information what to get and how to use it.
Hey Lourens! Welcome! If you want some suggestions on what to purchase to start out, I’d like to offer my opinions.
I purchased a Whip by Yoyofactory. I also picked up “Da Bomb” by Team Losi. I recommend the Whip as it worked well for me, some thin lube, and some fat Kitty Strings or yoyo string labs Plutonium strings.
Then print out the yoyoeXpert trick sheet.
For about $20, you can learn everything in the “beginner” portion of the sheet. The Whip is upgradable to an unresponsive yoyo, so when you’re ready to move on, you can continue to use it, but I’ll wager that when that time comes you’ll be able to find a nice metal yoyo on our BUY/SELL/TRADE thread that will serve you better.
I am also just getting into the hobby and am nearly 40. It is very fun so far! I’ve been learning on my own using the trick sheet as a guide and following Andre Boulay’s helpful videos. After a month of rather casual practice, I have nearly completed the “beginner” portion of the trick sheet. As with all things, practice, practice, practice.
I look forward to hearing of your journey down the path of yoyoing! Again, WELCOME!
Thank you for your helpful reply. I will look into your suggestions. Your learning fast, I hope I’m as talented
I started my own topic with some questions I have. Some basic beginner questions
Hello, guys! My name is Davey. I used to throw a little back in middle and high school when my mom use to get me the first Yomega Brains. Honestly, that yoyo is my only experience with throwing and I didn’t get heavily involved into all of the intricate, neat looking tricks I COULD’VE done. However, I’m never discouraged for long, and I recently purchased a InOne Aluminium Unresponsive Yoyo for the sleep time. But to my void of prior tricks, I’m a complete noob slate when it comes to binding and doing many tricks. I’ve been trying to rehearse from the trick videos but I’m still hitting snags and missing loops. Looking to improve and maybe compete one day
don’t worry if you put the work in youll learn fast
Welcome to the Forum! i hope you progress and stick with it! i’m excited to see your progress!
I also first learned on a Yomega Brain in middle school. Welcome to Yoyoexpert!!
Yo just trying to get a bit more involved in what’s going on
Hey guys, my name is Blake and I’ve been throwing for about 8 months. I’m 14 so money for new yo-yos has been hard to come by. I just recently discovered buying used yo-yos! So excited to be a part of a throwing community (finally)!
My first yoyo back in 1995 was a Yomega Brain yoyo.
All the kids at my school had either Duncan Bumblebees, Henry’s Viper, DaBomb or at least a ProYo II.
I was always super jealous, but asking for money for yoyo wasn’t really a thing, and I was happy with the Yomega and well we were only 8/9 year old at the time and being able to do split the atom and double or nothing was like the pinnacle of yoyo in my playground back then. Now I have nicer yoyo’s but still not very good in comparison to everyone on here.
Makes me realise what yoyo you use isn’t all that important until you reach a certain level.
The more you yo, the more your yoyo does hehe. Have fun!
this is so true im 14 and im always wanting to try out all these new throws but I never can
bro im 12 and i have not bought yoyos for about a year. broke my cadence, and my friend broke my variant so that’s already -2 throws
that suck but life sucking is a part of being a teen, trust I can relate
Haha lol, the struggle is very real. I saved for 4 months to get my shutter wide angle, and 3 to get my horizon.
I signed up here just because I need some help - urgently! … please
I’m not a YoYoer - (sorry if that is not the right term).
I have a Christmas/SecretSanta/KrisKringle request for a “non-responsive butterfly yoyo” which I believe is not your ordinary toy-shop thing.
Could you send me a link (Amazon, Ebay, Argos, YoYo, ‘whatever you’re having yourself’ that meets the description:
** - butterfly**
** - YoYo**
Since yoyoexpert has its own store, we’re limited to giving you links to stuff available right here.
They come in plastic:
If you have a budget and color preferences we can help you find one that’s perfect.
OK that’s cool.
Which one is a “non-responsive butterfly yoyo” ?
