It seems like you’re already comfortable discussing your own difficulties with others. Opening up like that is often the most difficult hurdle to overcome and you’re already there. Give it time though, you didn’t get to this point overnight.

Consider myself basic to mediocre as well… But fortunately you don’t have to play competitively to enjoy yo yos. Turns out they let you buy them just the same!

Hey hey you fine yoyo folks.
My names TJ, and I just wanted to say hello. Pretty new to the hobby, but ive been absolutely loving it.
Not only playing, but collecting too. Its only been a couple months and ive got like 10 throws already. Which is nothing compared to some of the onsane collections on here, i know, but i can definitely see how one could amass such a collection.

Hey! I am Moose. When I was a kid you could not catch me without a yoyo, but I didn’t really have the patience for learning it in any real serious way. I returned to yoyo by way of kendama when looking for an offline and casual stim toy that I could choose to put a little thought into if I wanted. Somehow I felt yoyo was way out of my league and completely impenetrable. Late last year got over it and grabbed a w1ld Wildless.
I have a small collection that are all pretty different, so my favorite yoyo changes by the day. My YYF Koi, MYY z04 and MK1 Penumbra are in heavy rotation right now!
I’m kind of a lurker in all the common usa yoyo spaces online, but I finally got whacked with a deal in the BST I couldn’t refuse. Frankly I also was a big forum head in the 2000s so its pretty exciting to join an active one. If you see me in the g2 discord feel free to say hi!

My name is Troy Green. I’m 55 and based out of Cameron, Missouri. I’m a medically retired military veteran (25+ years) after being wounded in Afghanistan, and I currently work at a local dispensary.
I used to race BMX for 9 years and did flatland BMX for 2, so I’ve always loved technical, flow-based hobbies. I’ve been looking for a solid indoor activity for the off-season and bad weather, and a random event completely changed my trajectory. A vendor brought some cheap, branded promotional yo-yos into the shop. I picked one up, realized my childhood muscle memory was still there, and started digging around on the interweb

Wow. I had no idea how much the sport had evolved! The modern, technical styles are absolutely incredible.
I plan to ordered a SpinTech Crosshair to get started. While I can do a few basic childhood tricks, I’m basically starting at 0% knowledge when it comes to the modern stuff. I’m eager to learn absolutely everything I can and looking forward to being a part of the community!

Excellent. I am 64 now and took the hobby up 9 years ago after also realizing I still had some muscle memory of throwing as a kid. I loved bmx growing up in Los Angeles in the 60’s and early 70’s and remained a cyclist throughout my life with 40 plus years of mountain biking experience. I started throwing modern yoyo 9 years ago after losing an auction for a titanium luftverk yoyo that I knew absolutely nothing about. I started looking for information and found Yoyoexpert. Welcome to what I found to be an incredible group of people

After all these years here in the middle of Arizona, a newly opened children’s toy store started selling yoyofactory products and started a club about 4 months ago. I have been playing every other week with a handful of beginner kids and a few beginner adults. There is a guy who is an ambassador for an unmentionable internet retailer that lives locally and he is teaching all of us. I have learned a lot in the last few months. He is the only one here better than I am so it’s been a blast teaching what I already knew and learning what he knows

I love yoyos. I love collecting them and have had close to a hundred of them over the years until selling roughly 90% of them after a double bypass. I’ve since been building a smaller collection. I’m fascinated by all the different designs.
