New Guy, Started playing back in the 1960’s with a Duncan Butterfly. I got older and my state doesn’t have yoyo clubs so I quit. In 2004 I took my son to the 2004 Worlds Yoyo Contest. I was amazed at all the new yoyo’s and was hooked. I also met Frank Difeo and he educated me about the new technology in yoyos. After Worlds and a few more years, our yoyo skills weren’t progressing. So, we switched to Spin-Tops and we got a lot better. Now I’m an Official Spin-Top Player. I presently own about 60 Tops of all different shapes and sizes. However, I still collect Dif-e-yo Yoyo’s because they remind me of Frank and his friendship.
Thank you for sharing that and welcome to the forum. There are still tricks being learned on the humble Butterfly. Check out our Fixed Axle February thread.
Hey everyone. My name is Ben, out of FL. Used to be very very involved in the yoyo community from 2009-2014. I can remember the days of yoyoexpert chat rooms with the little noise that sounded when you opened it… good times.
Dropped the hobby as I was handling life and after finding my old genesis and using for a few days, I seem to be coming full circle. I needed a fun wholesome hobby. I found that yoyoing is quite therapeutic as an adult and I didn’t lose much skill over the last decade.
Looking at all the yo-yos available-wow things have changed! I used to be a one drop/clyw guy. I think the last return top I bought from them was the Puffin.
Hoping to find my next purchase soon to get back into it. If anyone is an old(ish) head like me and would like to share any info, please do. I’d be happy to know what’s going on with new yoyos, the status of the usual contests/competitions, who is still around from those times, anything else I should know. I hope the community has continued to grow!
Looking forward to rejoining this community
Welcome back.
I’ve been yoyo-ing two or three years now and it’s become my favorite pastime and hobby. I just recently joined the community and had a lot of fun doing FAF this month! I’m excited to learn + share tricks and good times with all you guys.
Hi everyone,
I was a yoyo amateur back in the days and with time life got in the way and I stop playing…
I still have a few yoyo’s from my collection and I am looking to sell but since Im not in the market since few years I would like to ask today experts on the question of value for theses 3 examples.
I hope my question / quick intro respect the forum rules and please excuse me if its not the case.

Thank you in advance

that pistolero is gorgeous!
I realized I never got around to introducing myself (oops) I am Jayce and I started with the great yomega fireball in the late 90’s and moved over to yoyojams for a bit as I aimed to join little local compititons and such but faded out of yoyoing to pursue a career in tattooing. Then in 2012 I got in a wreck that left a slight tremble in my drawing hand thus ending my tattooing career (womp womp) but that lead me to what I do now which is 3d modeling video game assets.
Fast foward a bit and I was in 5below and seen this yoyo,
now with that face how could I not pick it up, one throw later my spark for yoyoing was reignited.
They have became the fidget I needed to get me out of my head and into the now. While the slight hand tremble makes yoyoing a bit harder (some tricks I just won’t be able to land) it has left me appreciating the challenge of mastering a trick even more.
Now for favorite? Hard choice, for just yoyoing and learning new tricks I lean towards my speedaholics but for the art of how each one is made and how they play there is no winner, as a 3d artist I respect the energy that goes in to making them and that’s what I admire most.
But yeah that is about it.
A toast to a fellow “lost my dream career in a tragic accident” club member. I was an EMT until 3 herniated discs ended that whole idea just two years in. I’ll never be able to lift a stretcher again, unfortunately. My husband @Snorlaxative420 was a logger until a logging accident broke his knees and ended that one for him. Unfortunately, it seems like it happens to a lot of us, and a surprising amount end up here throwing yoyos and making dark jokes about our lives
Anywho, welcome to the forum! I struggle a bit with nerve damage on my right side from aforementioned discs, so I also deal with a tremor/tingling/numbness when yoyo-ing and it takes me a little longer to land certain throws or tricks but there are some I was convinced I’d never land, let alone master and do it consistently, but I did! I’ve started to pick up on subtle adjustments that accomodate for not being able to feel my hand half the time, and if you ever want to reach out I’m more than happy to attempt to explain!
Hey, everyone! My name is Brandon and I’ve just started throwing about a week ago. I haven’t touched a yoyo in well over two decades, so it’s basically all new to me. So far, I’ve grabbed a few yoyos, Duncan imperial and butterfly XT, as well as the magicyoyo v10 and k2! I cannot wait to keep learning and exploring different yoyos, materials, and strings as I learn tricks!
Hello i have just started to yoyo and i want to go pro do any of u have any advice for me???
Lots, and lots of practice. Like full time job practice.
Got it ty @SlowThrow
There are many extremely talented and experienced people on here, I’m sure you will learn a lot!
For what it’s worth, there isn’t a whole lot of money in being a professional yoyoer, while there are prizes at tournaments and stuff, and maybe a little kickback from signature gear selling, there is no healthcare or retirement fund or any of that. You can for sure still pursue it as a goal, but as a career… may be ill-advised.
There are others who know way more about this side of the hobby who could provide better insight on this subject.
Hello there peoples! the name is already_taken_photos! Or Taken for short! I’ve been throwing for around 3-3 1/2 years now and has become an obsession of mine ever since! Hope to learn from you all and talk about this great hobby!
Hey y’all.
To cut to the quick I’ve been yoyoing for about 14 months. The only reason I know that is because that’s about how long I’ve been on a service mission for my church
Discovered this site from a fellow missionary who hooked me up a few months ago. What’s cool is there is at least one guy in my mission who is interested in learning to yo the yo.
Outside of yoyos, if the pfp wasn’t a giveaway, I do like cars. I also like reading, science, religion, and doing service.
