Haha, yeah I usually use Sochi string now. There’s a prototype blend I’ve really been liking a lot too. Haven’t tried Airetic, but Markmont & Zipline are both good people and both make good product for sure.
A bunch of good bearings, a bunch of thread, and a string rig.
TiShee if I can find one.

I’d search out some Anti-Yo that I no longer have. That’ll eat up a grand pretty fast.
Depends what worth it is to you. If you think $150 isn’t worth it for a yoyo in general then no it’s not.
But if you’re looking for the absolute best of the best, I think that’s where to look. JT created the Kamui, the best 4a yoyo when it was made and they’ve been the leaders of 4a designs and yoyos since then. They are the kings for 4a, if you want the best, that’s where to look.
The something Phaser has been and still is in the discussion for the greatest 3a yoyo of all time. When you hear talk of the greatest 3a yoyos, the Phaser is always in the discussion. And before that it was the Superfly Remix.
The TP Palpitation was considered the best 3a and 5a yoyo when it was released and was the rival of the Draupnir for the best 1a yoyo. The Palps successors the Colony and specifically the Anubis are considered rivals to the Phaser for best 3a yoyo. Before the Draup and Palp? YYR Sleipnir and TP Leviathan, Positron, Maxbet. Also all far ahead the rest of the field for the time.
Of course I don’t think all of their yoyos are worth it. I think YYR’s sublines are kind of meh and something has a lot of expensive designs that aren’t appealing to me either. But their flagships are absolutely no joke. They are the best in the world. Personally, if I had the money, that’s where I would be putting most of my money.
Hey Planet Yoyo!
Please stop spending and invest into the future of yoyo.
Pay it forward slowly and surely!
Invest the $1K into a money index-fund that pays approximately 4%, and generate $40/yr interest income.
Spend $40 per year on this Wonderful World of Yoyo…for Life, many Lives.
I wonder how big of a block of aluminum this small community could create if Yo’All decided to recycle all the excess Alum-yoyos sitting frivolously around the house as a subtle form of Gro$$ Pollution!
Presumably, yoyo producers could buy recycled Aluminum cheaper than the freshly mined and smelted stuff. I doubt “recycled” less-pure aluminum would have an impact on the science of spin. I’d be thrilled with post recycled packaging for starters.
Respectfully~
Who are Kreeger and Sons? Is the Smothers wine from the Smothers brothers?
$1000? probably spend it on, the hummingbird, edge beyond, bind, a titanium (not sure which one yet) a terrarian, and if I have some left over, maybe some lube and a nice yoyo case.
Yes the Smothers Bros bought a vineyard and commissioned yo-yo’s from Tom to be sold there. Kreeger & Son was a backpacking company and that’s one of several “advertising” No Jive models from the period (along with Abercrombie & Fitch, Continental Cash Register, Neiman Marcus, etc). Neither of those models surface often.
There happens to just be one of those luxurious Neiman Marcus Jives on that one auction site, would need that G to pick it up though.
Got it
One sold like 4 months back for $75
My neighbor was talking my ear off and I missed the auction. That’s what I get for trying to be slick and bidding at the last moment.
