My last vacation/travel, I only brought a fixed-axle butterfly, no extra string. Kinda wild!
1 responsive, probably a fixie
1 hybrid or plastic unresponsive
1 chill organic
1 competition geared bimetal
I usually end up playing with 1 or 2 of the 4 I bring, but it’s nice to have the extra variety.
1 yoyo, few extra strings, and 1 kendama.
yoyo case holds 3, so…
2x Unresponsive - MMC and Pano likely
1x Heist (fits in the counterweight slot )
Last opening filled with string, extra bearing, and extra pads
Edit; here’s a pic
Cheers.
One yoyo and a small accessories bag with extra string, bearing and removal tool.
I must be the odd one of the community.
Unless there is iconic back drop like the Roman Coliseum, on the Great Wall of China, the Jebus statue in Rio or going under a bridge in Venice Italy. I’m not taking any Yo-Yo’s, vacation time is time with my wife.
If I am going to go to any of the above locations, I’m going to take my blue/grey YYF IQ, just for the backdrop pics and that’s all the throwing I would be doing.
It’s fair to say you’re an oddity, as I would imagine many members here perceive yo-yoing as an additive experience to a setting, as opposed to it subtracting from your experience. But then again, my SO likes how i bring a yoyo around as I’m more present when I’m throwing. I probably wouldn’t ever want to spend time “filming” or “photographing” myself yoyoing because technology and vacationing just don’t mix with me, just doing it somewhere cool feels good. Just my two cents.
I’ve got a 2 yoyo case that I travel with, plus my EDC Deep State. The little case usually has my superblack Icarus and superblack Weekender, plus string, bearings, pads, and lube for my deep state.
Gee wiz. Are you going on vacation to experience new and exciting things or to yoyo in a place other than home? I can see bringing 3 and 1 for someone to smash on the ground doing their first sleeper. Any more than that and I think your vacation will end up being too yoyocentric.
No extra string is next level hahaha. I atleast take one string😅
I took a full case of 12 last summer and that was about 8 too many. For a number of reasons, I’ll take a maximum of 2 this summer and be surprised if I pick up either.
It’s a weird combo of what do I want to throw and which ones do I need nearby so I don’t worry about them.
But really a looper or two and… you know, see above.
I should have mentioned that we are going camping in a trailer at trailer parks around Yosemite. And I’m really not a outdoorsy type. Nothing against it but I get restless and bored. So while some of my family likes swimming and hiking or sitting around the fire, this way I can still hang around them and yo-yo and still be present.
Storage isn’t an issue.
My only regret is that I didn’t find time to make a bunch of wood yo-yos to giveaway. I’ll have to pick up a handful of Duncan fixies at Walmart or something for kids.
We bought a lemon of a trailer and have been in a mad rush to fix it up in time for our trip. There was major water damage everywhere. We replaced all the wood in the front of the trailer and will be putting on a new roof today.
It’s nice to know that I’m not the only one that packs too much.
It was an accident, but it worked well!
Last trip I did I took 3, got a 4th one since I was able to complete a trade in person and save the other party the cash on the shipping. Reflect on this, I only really needed 1 - 2 for the trip, the others were rarely used.
Small but important thing I forgot to mention: Take things that are easy to replace! I took a metavity b-grade, invictus, and edge. All of which are not the hardest things to find in terms of replacement.
I took these with me on my last holiday, which is more than I tend to take.
To be honest, I threw the MoNo the most because it was my newest throw plus it rocks. I also had the eh with me for most days out as I love just shooting moons while I walk.
I had to overnight away from home last weekend and I took a No Jive and a Bape 2 with me. A good fixie and unresponsive would keep me happy.
Depends on how long and where I travel.
But normally 5A, 1A, 4A one till two each.
5A backup I normally have in all my bags
I put 5 in a soft Pokemon lunchbox. Parenthetical examples from my last trip.
1 Pocket throw (Ditch)
1 Bi-metal (Trion Crash)
1 Fixie (Bitterfly)
1 5a (Speedaholic XX)
Wanker
Served me well. I only picked up one throw my last trip, a second Big Fun just to have something from the trip.
I’d think about the style/s I would most like to play (depending on my location, mindset, etc) and bring 2 yoyos for each style I chose. And of course strings etc.
