I totally feel you and this completely resonates with me. When you are a kid messing about no one care or so I felt. When you are older I feel like why are you doing this here and not at home if you are not even that good. Lol doesn’t make sense but it does.
@codinghorror & @HVizier completed, the Ti-Vayder order has.
So to round out this epic thread and all the amazing help I received from everyone who provided their feedbacks and helped me make the order last night.
I have one more confession to make.
I succumbed to my temptation and began my journey to the dark side by placing an order for a grey Ti-Vayder just now, so I suddenly have 2 yoyos coming my way real soon!
I think these two (the VTWO & Ti-Vayder) and my current Dove, so 3 yoyo in total will serve me well for the time being and I look forward to playing more on my dove, and also playing on the two new ones when they arrive.
The temptation was always there, and I tried to resist it and be sensible, but I think the FOMO once they are gone tipped the scale and I decided to just do it.
or as a wise Yoda once said regarding FOMO,
“Fear is the path to the dark side…fear leads to anger…anger leads to hate…hate leads to suffering.”
Thank you everyone, and may the force be with you!
haha I relate with this SO much!
I played a bit in the early 2000’s (never got very good)…but quit for many years and only just jumped back into this hobby about 6 months ago.
And since then I’ve amassed several dozen yos! haha >.<’ It’s become an obsession. I’m always doing window shopping trying to figure out which yo I’m going to impulse purchase next.
It’s a slippery slope! lol…once I started to collect, it’s been hard to stop!
The sad thing is, is I’m no where near the skill level to justify all the nice throws I own lol.
But it’s all good. I’m proud as heck of the collection I have. They’ve brought me a lot of comfort and fun this past year. I was lucky enough to have stuff from past hobbies to sell off to help fund this new addiction.
I don’t have much regrets in my venture back into yo-yoing!
…
So, which yo-yo will you be purchasing next?
Explain the use of the word “justify” there, pls?
I think he means that some of the yoyos he bought are not green, and hence couldn’t justify is
Seriously, if I can justify buying a VTWO, TI-Vayder, and a Dove with my skills, I’m sure you are over justified @twitch77
Where are you on your learning curve? want a learning buddy? I could really use one to chat to and share progress, none of my yoyos are green though so not sure if that makes me a frenemy or not
I don’t know exactly…I just kinda think it’s a bit ridiculous (in a light hearted kind of way) that I own so many high end/expensive yos, when I’m not even all that skilled with throwing yet.
The important thing is if you are having fun throwing
Yep!
You’re on my ignore list!
(totally just joking! hehe)
From the videos you posted yesterday, I seem to be just about where you are in skill level! I’m a slow learner and also due to an unexpected trip, and then some health issues…I haven’t yo’ed a whole lot in the past 2 months.
But I have recently been practicing quite a bit!
Sent you a PM
Thank you! yeah I found myself spending all my freetime on this forum and not throwing the last 2 days so today I took a break and went and just played
I can now do Buddha’s revenge so I have that going for me
I think you know this, but it bears saying out loud: High end yoyos are bought (or traded), they aren’t earned. Skill level isn’t a requirement for anything except qualifying and advancing in contests.
I’ve seen the same sentiment expressed on guitar forums. “I’m holding off buying my first Les Paul until I get good enough to justify such a nice guitar.” There are many real reasons to hold off spending a lot of money on a hobby, but feeling like you don’t deserve it based on skill level isn’t one of them.
Thanks for this. I really like this idea/statement.
Finally learned Buddha’s revenged today, had some issues at start with the 1.5 mount.
(Technically speaking re-learnt is more correct)
Dat bind at the end though after a failed brother mount
great!
Nice collection.
Thank you. There are so many more on my list.
I’m working on cold fusion.
Can’t seem to not thread the string and have it bounce smoothly in the middle like the tutorial videos.
But anyway to keep my practice interesting made a combo around the cold fusion to keep practicing on.
I call it… “The Confusion”
For not throwing after 12+ years…you’re a total bad ■■■!
Thanks twitch!
Enjoying learning together with you sir.
I am assuming that redacted word was yoyo’er lol just kidding
