Good 0a yoyo recommendation

hello all, i need some recomendations for a 0a yoyo. i have a butterfly and a fireball that i use for 0a rn.

i am also looking to buy so just hit me up.

What’re you looking for? Material? Bearing or fixie?

im not so sure about material any is fine but both fixie and bearing.

Definitely hit up the BST for a Plasm.

Also, the Butterfly you have is great, especially with Alphaline.

Honestly the butterfly from the bargain bin is one of my favorite 0a throws. I have a plasm (really fun) and a origen (meh/okay, but i know it’s still a good yoyo but not my cuppa tea) which are both mr85 bearing throws, and a pixie (superdy duper fun, yay pullstarts) from @TryCatchThrow. This is how I rank them.

  1. Plasm
  2. Pixie
  3. butterfly
  4. Origen

I found that my workhorse worked better for 0A after I switched the bearing to a flat 3mm D. I bought my second hand and it had a concave 4mm D bearing which I think is how it came.

I like my old No Jive 3 in 1 but it is a bit on the heavier side. I also like the Doc Pop Weekender but it tends to be lighter kinda like an og butterfly.

I will also say the PLTPS is an amazing responsive throw, especially for responsive 5a!

I just got one over the weekend. I like the width but the diameter feels really big in my hand. I need to play with it some more before I decide but currently I prefer the Weekender. I guess this is why we have choices

Dead 'Orse is AMAZING.

Couple of Plasms here

I will insert a warning here. The 3mm bearing without shims will NOT fill in the bearing space completely. The bearing posts run into each other and that’s why it feels like it tightens up. I ruined my first prototype V1 Workhorse by fooling around with 3 mm bearings. In fact the posts still hit with a 4mm bearing unless the posts are shortened a very small amount, filed or Dremeled. I would recommend using a 4mm that has been locked with glue if you want a “fixie”. If anyone chooses to shorten the posts, it will also be necessary to shorten the axle screw about 2 threads. Dremel works best for this if you don’t have a professional setup.
Otherwise the screw will push little nipples out in the center of the cup. All of this you do at your own risk. Be careful.

Edit: it’s not necessary to shorten the posts or the axle when running a 4mm bearing but there is a very tiny bit of slack that can be tightened in the bearing seats by removing that material. However there is no negative effect from just using a 4mm bearing with no modification of the posts or axle.
