I kinda like splashed depending on the color.

As long as they are not “Saved By the Bell” splashes like neons and bright purples or something that looks like Will’s early episode wardrobe on “Fresh Prince of Bel Aire.”

Looking back at yoyo design and playing with my Yelets today (and lately been looking at old SPYY’s not that I can easily find any these days), I wish that there were more yoyos today that had usable spikes on them, not those pseudo spikes that are too blunt to do anything with. I know design and play style has evolved over the years. Sure there are hubstacked yoyos but sometimes it’s nice to pull off a nice pull start on just a spike. I currently have my Yelets set up with spike side effects, been doing some pull starts today with it

Normally I throw a bit every day but not this week since things have been turned topsy turvy due to the coronavirus. Changing that soon, and going to get down on those killer tutorials in the recent frontstyle thread.

I need some sense of normalcy these days and yoyoing will be a helpful part of that.

10 days of quarantine at home, and my bearings are becoming super noisy.
The problem is I left my lubricant at the office, so I’ll have to either do with the noise, or try WD-40. :man_shrugging:

You will turn them semi-responsive if you use WD-40. I recommend just cleaning them out with isopropyl alcohol or any other solvent like acetone you have around and running them dry. Im usually an advocate for lubing unresponsive bearings, but just clean them thoroughly instead in the meantime.

Good luck finding any isopropyl alcohol during these times…thankfully there are other solvents if you don’t have any alcohol at your disposal.

There is a thread here somewhere with a bajillion alternatives to official yoyo lube…

Thanks for your advice; if I had tried WD-40, my plan was to use acetone to clean it up if it turned responsive.
But thanks to your experience, I don’t need to try :innocent:

So, just cleaning it with acetone, and not lubing it, will make it smooth and long spinning ?

I have an extra bottle of yoyo bearing lube I don’t need. PM me if you want it.

Thanks, that’s super nice of you! :+1:
But I live overseas, so it won’t be faster to receive a shipment from you than to buy lube from an European shop
And even if I buy locally, I can’t be sure of when the parcel will be delivered, given the current situation. That could be a matter of weeks :man_shrugging:

That’s why I think I should do with what I have home.
