i’m not familliar with that particular throw but i’ve always used a pair of slip joint pliers. grasp the bearing and pull while gently rocking back and forth. the bearing will come out. sometimes it takes a little force. there’s no magic trick and they aren’t permanently fixed to one side of the throw. give it a little more force. it’ll come off.
Do you have pliars with the notch in them?
This is the method I typically use to remove bearings and it works well for me. Be gentle with it…it might not feel like it’s doing anything at first, but if you just keep gently moving it back and forth it should come out.
Thanks for the ideas, guys. I played with it a bit more this morning and, when I unscrewed the yoyo to try again, I found that the bearing was stuck to the other side. It’s now out thanks to a bearing removal tool. I’ll keep these tips in mind for if/when this happens again…
IMO a good bearing removal tool like the MagicYoYo style (not the YYF one; I’ve had bad luck with those) is better than pliers for removing a flat bearing like a half spec. Pliers are great for any type of centering bearing though.
I love the feel of a fresh brand new string on my unresponsive yoyos. On the other hand, I absolutely hate the feel of a brand new cotton string on a wooden fixed axle throw. That gritty feel is like nails on a chalkboard for me.
I had my KNack strung up yesterday and I had the string broken in to perfection. Everything was just so smooth, string seemed to hold torsion just fine. Then on a rather light/medium throw, the string just casually snapped. I was so disappointed, the string didn’t even seem overly worn. Put a new string on today and am just lamenting at the break-in. The first kickflip I landed today had a string twist in it
i gave away my Butterfly XT! my friend at church asked me to bring a normal yoyo, so i did! then he tried it, and enjoyed it a ton, so i decided to let him hold onto it.
