General Yoyo Thoughts

Am I the only one who thinks it is really strange when a BST seller gives you a price and then goes completely radio silent when you ask where to send the PayPal funds?

That is odd.

I definitely recall him getting into some drama but I forget what it was for.

But yeah he was with UNPRLD but is currently unsponsored. He was(is?) repping YYF at worlds, probably in an attempt to get noticed and sponsored by them

Idk why hes not getting picked up. Dudes a worlds finalist and has been crushing the competitive scene

Yeah I think he was the only unsponsored worlds finalist

He was for 1a. Not sure if anyone in the other divisions was too or not.

Maybe it has something to do either with the aforementioned drama or being on and leaving two teams in such a small period of time. And maybe both are connected.

Yep a few times. One guy in particular on the social media BST we exchanged quite a few messages talking about a couple old yyr throws, condition, play, all the usual stuff. I could not get a real of price out of him but he said market price, so I offered prices comparable to what I found from a couple ebay auctions. Never heard from him again.

Made a note of his name and will never bother him again. The same with a couple others over there where we actually had a deal done. I figure Iā€™m better off if I donā€™t go sending money to those types.

In every case, this has been for listings without prices. I donā€™t bother anymore with those listings, unless I already know the seller or its something really rare. I just donā€™t care to put in the thought and research to determine a fair price, which I believe the seller should have done in the first place, only to be ignored when I name a price. I never lowball, I always try to offer what I genuinely believe something to be worth. I find it to be insulting and a waste of my time.

In my experience no price == fishing for a chump.

I just had two weird situations.

One was probably partially my fault. I donā€™t like to have too many active transactions so I asked a guy if he could wait until my two yo-yos in the mail were received by the buyers and he said that was fine. One dude never got back to me so I said Iā€™ll give it one more day and then weā€™ll just go ahead and go forward with it. Guy never responded after that.

And then the other one I got the PayPal money, sent the yo yo out, confirmed it arrived through tracking and then the buyer has not replied to any of messages since he acknowledged I was shipping the yo-yo. At this point since tracking showed it arrived Iā€™m just assuming he got the yo-yo alright but feedback would have been nice.

Hereā€™s one that really really grinds my gears. This happened about a month ago. I had finished a deal on a fairly rare yoyo from someone on the BST. I had payed a very fair price, even a bit on the high side, and I even bought a couple other yoyos I didnā€™t really care about from the guy just to sweeten the deal for him.

A day later the seller contacted me and told me the manufacturer of the yoyo had contacted him and was insistent he had the right to buy that yoyo back. The seller, who is pretty young, gave in to the pressure and agreed to sell the yoyo to him. Problem was he already had my money, and claimed he couldnā€™t afford to refund me. I knew the seller had badly over extended himself horse trading on a lot of high end yoyos so I bet it was true. He wound up having to send me a throw he really wanted to keep to make up for this, and I spent way too much time bargaining with him. He wanted to make it up by spending me a bunch of common stuff that I mostly already have or didnā€™t want. In the end we both felt really bad about it and neither of us got what we wanted. Not fun.

I find this to be incredibly bad behavior from a well known maker of yoyos. If he wanted that yoyo he should have come to me, instead of putting the seller in the middle. I will never never never buy anything from that manufacturer again. And Iā€™m done with that seller.

Yeah, it was a rare throw in a 1 of 1 color. I still find it very odd since all the parties involved are very active in the community and all have stellar reputations. And I also know its true since the guy posted about getting the yoyo back.

Note none of this happened here. It was on FB BST.

I wanna know more too haha.

Wonder why the manufacture just didnā€™t manufacture more of them and keep one? Lord knows if I owned CLYW Iā€™d have a kiddie pool full of OG CLYW Peaks to Scrooge McDuck in.

Definitely deserves a public shaming for sure. I donā€™t want to give my money to this manufacturer.

Iā€™ve got to say, if I bought a yoyo from anyone and when I went to sell it, they told me they had right of first claimā€¦likely Iā€™m telling them they sold all rights to that yoyo when they traded their yoyo for my cash.

Itā€™s absurd beyond belief. Thatā€™s why Iā€™d like to hear more about what happened.

Iā€™m generally not one for public shaming, but, when a company acts like a spoiled toddler, they are all but asking to be called out.

How many companies do 1 of 1s and are very active in the community? Canā€™t be too many.
