Yeah, money traded hands. Deal is done. Sorry he relinquished rights. He DOES NOT have any rights after he receives payment for the object.
If I agreed to pay 2.5 million for a Picasso, and then sent payment to the owner and the owner received payment, then that is now MY Picasso. NO ONE has the ability to negate that. Even Picasso himself.
Edit: I don’t want to start a witch hunt (or witch chase and shoot em up per South Park) so I’m editing my post out of respect to @d34dj3d not wanting to out anyone.
I never possessed the yoyo, the seller agreed to sell it back to the other guy after I paid but before he shipped.
I’m not willing to mention more since the gentleman responsible is one of several behind the brand. And it could be the seller never even told him the item was already bought and paid for. I know he was an avid collector of this guy’s stuff and pretty much idolized him. In any case I would hate to do any damage to the brand since I only know what the kid selling it told me, and I do know for a fact the manufacturer had it back in his possession.
Oddly enough this sequence of events did put me into the position to come into a very minty death robot at a good price. Since I wound up with another rare yoyo that I didn’t really want, but I could use as good trade fodder I managed to trade into the robot. So I feel karma paid the dues here.
Not UNPRLD, not any of the other’s you’ve mentioned. And the more I think about it the more I think the seller never told the originator it was already sold.
And before anybody asks, the seller was liquidating his collection and exiting the hobby and I haven’t seen him post since he sold everything off. Which is good, he needs to focus on his education.
This happened to me last month. I sent someone a couple of things trying to help out…tracking said he got them, but then I haven’t heard a word from him since.
I mean it’s no big deal…and I’m just glad to pay things forward…but meh, would’ve been nice to get a “thanks” or something.
–edit–
Is this selfish of me? Is it wrong?
I like to help people, and to make people happy.
But I also really like the feelings I get when I know they appreciate it. Damn it makes me feel good! haha…that can’t be wrong can it? Is it bad that I like to help others because it makes ME feel damn good?
I’m being extra cautious here because the throw was a collaborative effort that went down a long time ago, and only one of the collaborators was involved here. All the original collaborators are still around in different places or companies, but the actual original collaboration is no longer a thing. Like so much yoyo drama it gets complicated, and I only really know my side of the story.
I’m sure they are taking it easy right now. I was actually messaging them on IG about if they were ever going to make a delrin First Base. Tyler told me they’ve done protos and all of them play like crap lol.
I just don’t understand why someone would give me a price and then not tell me where to send the money, even after multiple queries. It’s almost as if they don’t really want to sell the item in question and don’t have the maturity to tell me that.
/guilty…I’ve done similar things before.
It’s like I got the guy all hyped to buy something from me (this was before I was into yos), but then I changed my mind and wasn’t sure how to tell him without disappointing him. And I was going through a lot in life and just didn’t know how to handle it.
So I didn’t handle. I just ignored it. /is not proud
leans on cane Back in the old days of online commerce it was more common to exchange detailed communication about items for sale and shipping, even on *bay. Nowadays we like to treat all transactions like *mazon purchases - totally impersonal, no communication other than tracking info or unless someone is unhappy, where only in the latter case there will be an avalanche of messages.
Today I do the bare minimum unless the seller/buyer is more personable and communicative - then of course I reciprocate.
