If you don’t mind me asking. How tall were you when you were 15? My family thinks I’ll be 6’7” lol (6’4”)
I think I grew a bunch around 15-16. A lot of guys who I remember being around the same height as me for a while ended up only being around 6’ tall as adults. I also remember being around 160 lbs when I was 17, and now at 25 I’m 205.
I guess I’m in for it then, huh… wish me and my back/knees luck! Haha
Khamis-Roche method - can be a good predictor of height. Your doctor may have done this calculation and informed your parents of the results.
Congratulations on your height. Tall people always have an advantage.
My doctor did that to us. That’s why my family (and my doctor) think I’ll be 6’6”+. I know a guy who’s 6’6” and he hates it. Kinda makes me nervous.
Maybe ditch yo-yo and start playing basketball?
Haha, I’d like to play basketball, but I’m about as athletic as a three toed sloth.
My general yoyo thought today is that I feel blessed to have an hobby like this one and in general to be blessed to have an hobby.
It means that I have something always to look forward, run home after work fast as I can to finally throw for hours and the time fly, I never get bored even if I am alone, I never need to throw myself on the couch with Netflix just to pass the time, I have always something to do and a great community in support all of this.
I cannot imagine my life without have something to do daily, so many people does that and I never understood how and why, it’s even crazy to me that sometimes people can find what I do childish or weird, I think it does make me complete: play and be active in the community, have always tricks to learn or to practice, new yoyos to look at, work for the sponsor, find new friends and get impressed by a trick someone do.
I think all of this is incredibly crazy and sick and I feel grateful for what this community is giving me in terms of motivation and emotions those past 2 years, I am very happy I stopped to be an alone player in my bedroom and open myself to the community and start to film and post, yoyoing is even more fun that it was before now!
What a wonderful thought, Albertino!
I’ve been having similar thoughts lately. I feel so lucky and blessed to have this hobby and community. I’m super grateful for it.
I’ve been trying to think of ways to repay the community. Other than just giving people yoyos, I’m having a hard time coming up with anything.
“I’ve been trying to think of ways to repay the community. other than just giving people yoyos, I’m having a hard time coming up with anything”
I’ve got it! Custom picture tricks! Guaranteed to look exactly like you!
On a serious note, just getting to talk to you is a gift man. Don’t feel like you owe us anything.
(How do you quote sections of a post on mobile?)
just highlight whatever you want to quote and a box will appear with the option
Test test.
Edit: I’ll take my Ph.D in Foruming, now.
Maybe a tutorial in the next online event(s)?
i think a lot of ppl fail to realize the value of their time and knowledge. every time you give someone advice or take the time to give us noobs tips and answer stupid questions you are giving back to the community. as sappy as it sounds i genuinely believe that as humans the most valuable thing we have to give is part of ourselves
Getting involved in a local club, running or helping run a local club, getting involved in online community events and helping with stuff like that. Volunteering at contests where it’s feasible. Giving time to the hobby in some way is very impactful to the community/hobby and honestly way more do than just giving out YoYo
I agree with @Captrogers. There are no clubs, contests, or meet-ups anywhere near where I live. It would mean a lot to me if someone started one around here, I am of course too young to do it myself. Though I’m sure there are people who would appreciate one where you live as well.
Yo-yos themselves satisfy us for a short time, but ultimately, the only thing that makes this hobby worth it, or really any hobby for that matter, is the people.
Us yoyoers need each other to learn and grow. Without communication, who knows where yo-yoing would be. Imagine what yo-yoing would look like today if folks like Steve Brown, Paul Escolar, Andre Boulay, Barney Akers, Tom Kuhn, Frank Difeo, Dale Bell, Chris Mikulin, just to name a few, never picked up a yo-yo. We wouldn’t be here talking to each other, we’d all be, well… BORED!
We need each other, we need you. We need anyone you can think of who has ever touched a yo-yo. Without everyone here, yo-yo would kind of suck.
Thank you for your contributions, I think I speak for us all when I say: we appreciate you very much… Don’t ever forget that.
Oh yeah. I was planning on that for sure. As long as I can get some tricks I know lol. My excuse last year was I was afraid of the camera. I don’t think I’m going to get away with that one anymore lol
Start a club at your school. You’re never too young to enact small meaningful changes and to do something good or impactful.
I don’t go to school, I am home schooled; I was thinking of getting some of my friends interested so I can at-least yo with them.
You have the skills enough to make your friends go… WHOA!!! Sometimes that’s all it takes to spark interest in others. It’s definitely worth a shot.
