I was discussing this with a friend and he threw out the notion of a Torrent 3 (basically a rerelease of the Torrent 2.)
Obviously as a General yo fanatic I love the idea. I feel like it would do very good as the rerelease of the Hatrick and 5 star were extremely well received and sold out relatively quickly.
I acknowledge I could very well be biased though on the subject.
If any fans or non fans could throw out their thoughts on the subject, I’d love to hear it.
If not thoughts on a Torrent 3, what do you feel is something that would be very well received from this brand?
I think even being as unbiased as I can possibly be and looking at the facts, a Torrent III release makes a lot of sense, here’s why:
Most of the Torrent II’s were B grade, so having a run of primarily A grades would be nice
There was only one run of Torrent II’s and it was pretty small
It’s been 11ish years since the Torrent II’s were made, making any existing ones harder to find
The resurgence in popularity of organic yoyos the past couple years would almost guarantee its success… I don’t think it would’ve been the right time to release it 5-7 years ago, but now is prime time since there is a real demand for that shape
The Torrent is itself is now a classic, so a new run would give players a chance to try a legendary yoyo they otherwise wouldn’t be able to really find
I have zero doubts that a blasted Torrent III in some of the classic General Yo colorways would sell like crazy. I know sales numbers has never ever been the goal of @the_general, but I can imagine getting a modern version of a coveted classic in the hands of newer players would reignite the love for some of these other General Yo gems.
To answer your well-received question, I think a new model designed in a similar vein to the old models. Instead of rereleasing another Hatrick, Five Star, Essence, etc., a new model that fits the same organic family. AS you guys have mentioned, organics have made a resurgence in the last couple years and a brand new organic General-Yo with the original engravings and such I imagine would sell like hotcakes.
Friend of mine came by over the weekend and we had a throw session… he brought a few Generals for me to try…i thought you guys might enjoy the pics… 5star, i forget the top one.
Legato II joins the party! @the_general Thanks for the guitar picks too! Very much appreciated, I was actually thinking of buying some to mess around with flowable response, saved me some travel.
