I got a couple of my friends into it. One doesn’t do it anymore and one is still trying to progress. Met a couple of really cool kids at Air Circus New Jersey at the Boardwalk, that’s about it. Not many people yoyo in the arwa sadly. Tell me if you live in P.A. and you throw.
I started throwing about 2 years ago. Haven’t met one yoyoer in the LA region. It got lonely so I decided to become a yoyo vampire and convert some kids at my highschool. Now I have a whole army…I mean club full of eager yoyoers.
A few years ago I saw a kid throwing when I was driving down the street but it would have probably been slightly creepy for a guy in his 20s to approach a stranger on the street and ask him about his toys. Plus I didn’t even have any candy to offer him or a puppy to show him.
15 years ago I knew a lot of people that threw. I was also 12-13 years old in middle school during the big yoyo boom.
I taught an ex how to throw a sleeper a couple years ago.
And that pretty much summarizes my experiences with other throwers.
There are so many LA/Orange County yoyoers, it is really an awesome community. There’s DXL in Cerritos and even a yoyo store in the Redondo Beach area. Not to mention there are at least 4-5 contests a year in Southern California alone.
Really? I live around the Glendale/Eagle Rock area and I’ve never seen or heard of these contests. I might wanna check into that. Thanks for the heads up!
I know there’s a group in my area that meets every week or two. But I haven’t been to a meet yet. To be honest I’m a bit embarrassed by my skill level.
I have been throwing about 7 months now with no interaction. I live close to the portland area, I know there are a few throwers in the area from seeing them on the forum. I found a yoyo shop in Seattle witch is cool to test a yoyo before you buy. I plan on going to the pnwr in February.
I got started in yo-yoing a few years ago in high school. I became interested because there were two brothers that I hung out with and they could do the Advanced tricks on this site. I immediately bought 3 yo-yos that were equal to, or better than, theirs.
I never hear about them yo-yoing anymore and even if they are, they are definitely not as far along as me. 8)
For goodness sake if you live in New York or North Jersey come to the NYYC. Everyone’s welcome. Over the summer we had somebody from Switzerland.
Thumbs up for the one state where yoyoing has become extinct. The great country of Texas.
I just moved here and I feel like it use to be popular, and a lot of throwers are hiding.
We need to get this state be running again!
Anybody else from New Mexico? Seems like NM is an extremely yoyo free state.
Agreed what part of The Great Country do u live in
I highly doubt anywhere in the US is as yoyo lacking as Alaska
What about the Dakotas? It seems as if no one lives there. One of my math teachers once told our class that you could leave your car in the middle of the highway with everything in it and the doors open. Then you could walk away for half an hour come back and nothing would have changed.
;D
Except your car would be a whole lot colder!!!
I can never find any information on when DXL meets. I tried to join the facebook group, but after nearly 6 months of waiting for them to let me join I gave up and cancelled my request. DXL is for cool kids only? I promise I wear deodorant(maybe) and shower regularly(maybe). soured DXL milk
There are quite a few of us … were just not organized. I know Kulazndoode lives walking distance from me in Carrollton… Heck we even swapped phone numbers but never got together.
Miguel Correa whom placed first in 5A nationals a few years ago lives in the Metroplex too.
I don’t run the Facebook page, but I think the page is just not actively run. We meet about once or twice a month, I’ll try to post it on Yoyoexpert when I can.
Thanks! I’d appreciate it. I’d much rather annoy people in person.
