SF era Flying Camel ![]()
Double extra points for the triceratops!
What yoyo is this, it’s absolutely gorgeous and stunning ![]()
Looks like a SW KNack prototype in POM (Delrin). I have a similar one in recycled HDPE.
It’s a Knick Knack small version of Knack
Put a delrin A blank from @AudreySickburn in this, and it’s SO much better!
Yoyo is a Turning a Tilly (local craftsman)
I got this from @Rich as a second last summer because the pattern on the halves didn’t match up. Once it arrived I realized the gap was also massive and wouldn’t return without a double loop which kept it from sleeping. Rich was super cool about it and sent me a replacement that played much better. This yoyo went back in the box and on a shelf for about 6 months. Last week I decided to do some surgery. I cut out the old axle and replaced it with a 1/4in oak dowel. I 3D printed a jig to keep everything centered as I drilled out the old axle. Plays super responsive now but can still sleep some. Great for stall tricks.
When I got really interested in throwing, Hummingbird yo-yos and NoJives were the best I could find. I couldn’t have ever imagined the selection and availability of amazing yo-yos there are now.
These are still some of the best yo-yos I have found though, they were great in their day, and they still play great, especially if you still play like you did in the day![]()
These old Hummingbirds are so awesome! I love the one with the old address on it! Fun fact- Yoyonation’s old office address was 40 Water Street but in Manhattan, NY not Arcade.
happy friday <3
thought this was a funny, cautionary tale about trying to impose your will on a trick which “wants” to land a different way.
one of the things i love most about fixed axle is its tendency to confront you with the ugly, impatient side of yourself and to offer you a way through it if you can just stop trying so hard.
Throwing my self made fixie today. I think I’m calling it “The Blockhead” but I also think it’s going to be 1 of 1, so I don’t know that it needs a name.
Give it a super secret name, then when someone asks just refuse to answer
Alternatively, call it the “Wouldn’t You Like to Know, Weatherboy?” and then it’s name is also the answer to the question “What’s it called?”
