I dinged my Ti Peak the very first day I got it. Had it in a pocket of some new trousers, crouched down to pick some post by my porch, next thing I heard was the lovely/horrible ting-ding-ting down the 3 concrete steps. Gutted at the time but now I throw it everywhere.
The first ding on a throw is the worst and best thing that can happen to the yoyo and to you.

A yo-yo sitting in a case or on a shelf can bring you joy as an object - as something you HAVE - but to bring you joy in PLAY you’ve got to be willing to risk it out in the world.

also of note, hitting it on carpet ‘shouldn’t’ have introduced any vibe into it, though it is plausible. i’ve whacked some of my aluminum throws into laminate pretty good and they still

Not that you’d be any less careful, but the “sacred jewel” aspect of the throw is gone and I bet you’ll end up using it more now. That’s a win imo lol
