Again a tragedy. Difference being that if in fact the mark affected the flight, one I can get a replacement, and the other not so much without extreme effort.
My question, who doesn’t play, limits play, plays in fear that a particular yo-yo model because the Manufacturer doesn’t make a yoyo readily accessible can not be replaced?
Yeah big reason why I sold things like the galactic goose. Just can’t justify the price and idea of dinging it. Otherwise I don’t care. Obliterated my catalyst growing up and recently sparked the crap out of my v1 ti Triton. Will not go out of my way to spark the gunmetal production Triton, but if I do, all bets are off haha
Some stuff is played extremely rarely under perfect conditions (raw canvas & mfd)
Most stuff is only played in the house but I still end up dinging some stuff in my basement that has hardwood floors when I go to smoke (a-rt stuff)
Then I have the lineup of stuff that’s been damaged to the point i wouldn’t consider selling so I take those outside and with my on trips (inhaler I scuffed up bad, plastics, cheaper stuff)
I smoked my holy grail on my hardwood floors yesterday. Made a big ol DINGGGGGG. My wife comes running out asking what it was, saw the yoyo and rolled her eyes. I almost cried while inspecting it for dings/vibe, but alas wood is no match for titanium. Not even a mark.

I’m a collector, so there’s a few yoyos I have which I try to throw as little as possible, mostly just because I don’t want them to crack (old yoyojam, onedrop rally, few other old plastics). For the few yoyos I have in pristine condition that I know are hard to replace I’ll generally stick to carpet/thick grass. However, for the rest of my collection (like a good 85%) once I decide I want to keep a throw, I’ll throw it anywhere, and I’ll stick to softer surfaces for things that I might trade/sell in the future. Though, I find that damage doesn’t really bother me much anymore, adds character.

Same for the collector part, but sometimes, just sometimes dinging something is freeing because then you can go all out.
I’m not as clumsy to just destroy a yoyo and dings rarely happen, but still.
It lets me practice without having to baby it.

If I love a yoyo enough to beat it to hell while using it I generally end up picking up a second one in good condition on the BST. Or the other way around, buy one with dings just to be FREE.
I am genrally not rough with my yoyos but dings happen, such is life. Sometimes a ding is all a yoyo needs to be perfect. Lets you play and enjoy it with more freedom!
Caring about my yo-yos always being mint/pristine changed after I put a good gash in my Legato 2. That’s the most expensive yoyo I’ve bought retail to this day and after that I said ya know, it’s a yoyo. Im throwing a piece of metal to the ground with a string, this is bound to happen. I’m not a serious collector, I don’t care about its value because I don’t sell stuff, etc. I fixed the ring out of place and pulse vibe and that was that. And to this day I just keep that same mindset, it’s probably going to happen at some point with all my yo-yos because I now take any of them anywhere
This I totally understand, although I don’t have anything that expensive or care about anything new that I have, I baby my Addiction v2 and Nicky Cafe Racer and sometimes wonder why I even have them anymore. They were made to be thrown.
