I was able to move a few of those puzzles on my BST thanks to a nice gentleman ;D Oh, and I added a ShengEn FII last night, black 3x3x3, smooth and bubbly shaped cubeā¦new and sealed in the box. Iām downsizing things in general. Iām going to add a diamond shaped puzzle, but itās not really a complete diamondā¦itās weird.
Iād say definitely go for a Dayan cube over a vcube, they are much cheaper and better imo. The most popular are the zhanchi and the guhong v2. i have them both. I think I like my guhong better but itās all preference.
I own 3 Rubikās. I took a chance and bought several at once. I lucked out and got a smooth one out of the bunch. The other two I had to break in. I actually took some craft sticks (look like popsicle sticks) and wedged them between the layers to loosen them up. It worked too. I just left the cubes like that overnight. I saved that smooth one and put it aside. Just annoying that you canāt tension those cubes though. But, I hear they are not made for speedcubers anyway.
But, for those who recommend the Dayan cubes, they are great, especially the stickerless options. I like the Dayan Lingyun too. Canāt go wrong with any Dayan.
you can still speedcube with a rubikās brand, just most people prefer other faster, better cubes. but I agree they arenāt as much for speedcubing, I use mine for practice for accuracy.
Iāve always wanted to try a lingyun, how is it? compared to the guhong and zhanchi?
Eh, I donāt really like stickerless. Theyāre not actually legal at events, and imho they donāt look or feel as good as stickered.
I agree though, I like my guhong better than my zhanchi. They can both cut corners like you wouldnāt believe, but I like the feel of the guhong a little more.
My favorite cube was definitely the Dayan Zhanchi. I love my Shenghen FII as well, but sometimes if feels out of control, even with a pretty high tension. Rubiks cubes are great if you just add a bit of CRC Heavy Duty silicone and work it in. After a few solves, itās definitely capable of speed solving. You just need to rough it up a bit so the core gets more āflexibleā and it doesnāt pop on you.
My f2 popped too much for my liking, and if I tightened the tensions any it couldnāt preform well. and I do enjoy using my rubikās brand sometimes. Itās a good warm up cube and a good cube to take to school and let people scramble it. haha people think for some reason if they grip the cube really hard and just kinda move their hands it will scramble so wellā¦ think again people lol.
a faster cube wonāt necessarily make you faster. There are people who can solve a rubiks brand cube in under 10 seconds. If you donāt have the fundamentals down, a speed cube will probably just make your technique more sloppy, as you donāt have to worry as much about lining up sides to turn. Cuttings corners is great, but you should be able to solve a cube quickly without having to rely on your cubeās abilities to do so. The guhong is great, donāt get me wrong. Itās what I started with actually. Iām just saying that itās not as much the cube as it is the cuber. If you donāt have it already, pick up some CRC silicone spray, jigaloo, or shock oil. It makes even the stiffest of cubes fast.
I agree big time, but once you get down under 20 seconds, you can tell a difference in times between a rubikās and a dayan cube, so for the most part its the cuber, but once your fast, finding the cube for you that helps you perform to the best of your ability can help a little.
oh, definitely. Iād say even when you get under a minute you can. Dayan cubes cut corners phenomenally better than a store bought rubiks, and you should get a cube that fits your style of cubing. But getting fundamentals down is also a good idea.
agreed. I practice with a shengshou wind and a rubikās brand cube. Itās good practice and warm up, especially when Iām tired in the mornings and the dayan cubes are just too much.
