Cubing Corner

look in the app store, there are plenty

Why did I not think of an app for it? There is an app for everything. :-\

I cube I have a 3x3,5x5,sphere, and pyramid. Not a fast cuber but it was my last hobby and my ex girlfriend kept buying me different types of things to stump me always funny seeing her get angry seeing my have the thing solved the next day.

Eastsheens used to be the go-to but are long outdated by better options. Regarding the sticker colors, I just get Cubesmith stickers right off the bat anyways, so not really a big deal.

Stickerwise, I buy from Cubesmith too, but often use the textured tiles, not actual stickers. Iā€™m known to play stock stickers until they start to look ratty, then I remove them and replace with Cubesmith. I wonder what we would ever do without Cubesmithā€¦nice vibrant colored quality stickers, and not all that gunk when you remove them.

i use cubesmith halfbright with bright blue stickers. I love cubesmith haha, but I only have them on my 3x3, havenā€™t taken the time to resticker my bigger puzzles haha

Yeah, while Cubesmith is great, and has a ton of variety, I still have a lot of puzzles that they will not fit. Iā€™d have to buy an uncut sheet of tile, and custom cut them myself, which is time consuming. But, I know they canā€™t make a template for every possible thing out there. I prefer the standard cubesmith colors, but with the light orange instead. The regular orange on the tiles seems too close to the red.

Hi guys iā€™m new hereā€¦ (well to this thread at least)

Ive been cubing since i was only 10ā€¦

I have all cubes up to 7x7 and can solve them all too lol.

my fastest time for the 3x3 is 45 seconds which i set only a few days agoā€¦

I also like the megaminx and other shape shifting puzzlesā€¦

well welcome then! I got my first cube when I was 10ish I think, didnā€™t really start speed cubing til I was 14 though.

yeah its one of the common ages for getting introduced too itā€¦

pics in a minute or soā€¦

Agreed i think I started cubing when I was around that age but never got into speed cubing. I think my fastest recorded time is about 1:15 on a 3x3

there is my collection as of lateā€¦

enjoy.

Picked up my first V cube yesterday (6x6). It was a little different solving the last two solid colors when doing the centers. But after a little utube assistance on that part the rest was a breeze.
Iā€™ve been doing the cubes for a year now but still havenā€™t been in to it enough to know all of what is out there. For instnce, this V cube moves really well. I especially like the way it sort of centers itself up when youā€™ve completed a move. I have the 3, 4, and 5 rubix brand cubes that I thought were great (once I lubed them up). But after using the V cube I feel like my time spent on the rubix brand stuff is mostly keeping them from falling apart. They seem really cheap to me now.
So now I am moving on to the 7x7. Knowing what I know now about quality differences, can someone tell me which 7x7 I should get?

I have not solved a 7x7, but I have a VCube 7x7 in my collection. My suggestion is that, if you enjoy their version of 6x6, stick with the same brand for now. A few friends I have who solve 7x7 are enjoying their VCube versions. You pay a bit more for VCube, but sometimes you get what you pay for too.

Thanks Totalartist that backs up my thinking. V cube 7x7 has been ordered and should be here this week. Going to get up to that 11. I really canā€™t wait to get one of those and blindly mess it up, bwahaha. I donā€™t know why but I get so much peace lining up these bigger cubes.

Wow, you work fast! Do you prefer white cubes or black ones? I prefer darker color puzzles, except I discovered that I love an ivory color. Something is appealing about those off-white colored puzzles. Itā€™s odd, but I love them. Iā€™d say I like them in this order:

  1. Black
  2. Ivory
  3. Transparent
  4. White

Then all other colors relatively equal after that. I have a few blue, yellow, pink, and green colored cubes.

Also, I noticed that white cubes seem smoother. Maybe itā€™s something about the white plastic, but they feel better as the turning of the cube seems smoother to me.

As for that 11x11, it is a knockoff thatā€™s out there on the market. Similar to yo-yos, they end up out in the wild, and sometimes you get hold of them before you know better. Then, at that stage, itā€™s not legit to sell it off. But, Vcube will release a legit one in due time. Wait for that one.

Shengshou makes a GREAT 6x6ā€¦ And itā€™s not a knock off eitherā€¦ Love mine to death!

I tend to like Shengshou cubes anyway. Very consistent brand. I added some cubes to my BST if anyone is interested in a new puzzle, got a QJ 4x4, Maru Treasure Cube, Round 3x3, and Vcube 2x2 up there. If they get some interest, Iā€™ll put some more up. Looking to clean out my collection as they are not getting the attention they deserve. All puzzles are in great condition or new. Link is in my signature.

wish i had time to respond :frowning:

I think your best bet wouldā€™ve been the shengshou 7x7, much cheaper, and better imo

Hi! Iā€™m new to cubing, but have been yoyoing for a few years. I have a GuHong v2 and a Lanlan 2x2. My best time for 3x3 is 46" and Iā€™m trying to memorize the ortega method for the 2x2, but I can solve it inefficiently.
