Oh hey. I solved the Rex Cube. Also, my favorite puzzles at the moment I guess.

Haven’t solved a 7x7 in about 4 years. The largest factors of that being that I don’t particularly care for the chore involved in higher order cubes, and also that I don’t actually own this one.

That’s not as hard as I thought it would be.

Scramble again? Y/Y

I know I’ve been posting lots of pictures, but I like to keep this thread alive.

I’ve never been one for Square-1s and their expansions, but I’ve been doing okay with this four layer Square-1. The turning is horrid compared to the mf8 one I had years ago, since the pieces aren’t the right sizes, but I’m surviving.

How long is it taking you to solve that one? ^ :-\

I’ve had it on my desk for a couple days, but really only picked it up until now. If I was to gauge the time I’ve put into it so far based on the albums I’ve been listening to in the process, I’d guess around two hours? The inside two layers are super annoying to visualize, and therefore take more time, but are otherwise the same as the top and bottom.

I have been visualizing it in my head for a bit though, and thought of a trick that makes it behave more like a standard square one when you’re trying to solve the last two layers. So is that considered a head start?

Hmmm…quite advanced for me at this stage. Do you have a collection photo of all your puzzles? Do you buy new? Trade? Cube store of choice? I stopped cubing awhile and have gotten rusty, so I’m back at it now. But, before I slowed down, I was using icubemart and cubedepotusa a lot.

I’ll take a picture when I’m back in my dorm. I have most of them there.

I’m actually using amazon for a lot of my purchases. I don’t like the shipping times I’ve encountered with most of my purchases from other places.

I plan on purchasing some higher order cubes to see if I can get back into solving them, though I’m really preferring unique turning qualities in the Curvy Copter, Rex Cube, and Square-1. My 5x5 core cracked for the last time so I’m fixing for a replacement, and might as well get up to a 9x9 while I’m at it.

I have found that site has some very good third party sellers, who ship amazingly quick. I have also been on the auction site too and found a few unique things. But, I have been out of the game awhile, so I’m back at it. Where I left off, I was able to do 2x2, 3x3, 3x3x2, and 4x4. But, none of them were speed solved, and I could just do them. The 4x4 was taking me like 14 minutes…felt like all day  3x3 was like a minute and change. So, now that I’m rusty, I’ll have to revisit the algorithms for 4x4 and pick up some momentum from there. I was going steady for awhile and started spending all my time with yo-yos.

My 3x3s are all in a box. I’ll add some to my BST eventually:

I have 2 3x3s a 4x4 a 5x5 and a masters pyramorphinx. The 4x4 is so much fun!!! The masters pyramorphinx is hard xD

I have not ventured into the odd shaped puzzles, but I bought a few that I have not yet figured out. I just sit and look at them…just got them because the shape is cool. I have no clue what to do with it though…yet. :-\ This is one of them…cute:

I have it in green too. Funny how we call non-cube shaped puzzles, cubes.

My brother got it for me 2 years ago when he went to china, I’m going in April and will be getting as many odd shaped cubes as possible

These are the ones I have on my desk at school, minus broken ones and ones being lent to friends. The Four Layer Square-1 is also not mine.

Four Layer Square-1, Modified China Megaminx, Eastsheen 4x4, Dayan ZhanChi, Curvy Copter, Rex Cube.

Nice collection of complex puzzles. I don’t have the Eastsheen 4x4, but I hear it is one of the best for turn quality. I just don’t like the pink substitute for orange…I think they are the ones that have that pink side. I am enjoying a LanLan 4x4 though, turns great too.

i think the shengshou v3 and v4 blow both of those out of the water, especially if you take the time to mod them, plus they are like $10

do you guys wanna do some races on here? one of us can post a scramble or something, just an idea

I can only participate in a tortoise and hare race, but I make a cool spectator. I was using cubetimer.com for an online timer, but realized today, it will not work from my Ipad :frowning: I have a stackmat at home, but not sure I want to bring it with me daily. Post if you know an alternative online timer that might work for me.
