You and me both, brother.
I just had to throw away a 6-month-old Sochi fat string because of a crazy knot, I miss its texture so much.

YES YES YES. TEXTUUUUUUURE. EXFOLIATION.
That’s why I like these thicc markmont
Uhm….
So throw yo strings? @rkalajian
I’ve been yo-yoing just long enough to see the transition from slick 6 to full poly and I still have nostalgia for how it felt on the hands in play
Any Throw-Yo, with the exception of Serums and Vapors, def have some texture to them!!!
I mean, Vapors still have a tad.
That reminds me. I should send @theendofcake my new formula strings, and the latest string types.
i wouldn’t be getting to it for a while, i’m packed with a full college schedule, im graduating soon so im taking tons top of the bar philosophy for my degree (im allowing myself this brag). it may sound bad, but im doing amazing. i’ll dm you if I ever change my mind!
Review time! This is from my friend @IoSonoFormaggio , idk if he’s selling it so this is more archival/notetaking in nature.
Joo Silk || A- (92/100)
I have never used a string like this. Insanely durable, and all play qualities stayed the exact same for the hour+ I used it. It’s comfortably thick (and looks more thick than it feels) while also being soft to the touch. It definitely feels like silk with its soft slickness. Performance-wise, the way it flies through the air while maintaining shape is amazing. Heavy slack capabilities, go watch Joo’s tricks to see how he uses it, it’s nothing I can dream of replicating. Everything is fast and you have to compensate for that by not going as hard as you would with traditional bulk polyester, but that just encourages a relaxed playstyle where the string does most of the moving. Some like that, some don’t; for me it depends on my mood, and I guess the past few days I’ve had a liking to it. I saw some small issues in holding slack shape with like, 1 trick, because I think the slickness of the string made it a bit harder to maintain (this is the change from 4.5 to 4 in the score). 2.0 hooks are piss easy, definitely hand-holding but not as much as nylon can be. Also to note: this string is not as flimsy as nylon tends to be, and its a bit slower too, but that fixed the main issue with nylon blends that I had, namely the breakneck noodley feel that doesn’t fit comfortably for me with more advanced stuff. Tension holding capability was great and didn’t degrade at all.
Overall, great string, and preferable to any kind of 100% nylon i’ve used, ever. Feels more like a poly-nylon blend but without the flimsy issues some have, surprisingly similar to how I remember Ziplines old Exec Lite. Thank u Joo! Stats below.

hooray! grats! that’s an amazing feeling. well done
cake knows good yoyo spaghet
This is great string but i disagree about the durability. I literally accidentally broke the string as i was trying to strength test it. I’m strong but I’m not superhuman. That also being said, maybe i got a bad string? The world will never know.
Were you throwing a DV888?
… I’ll see myself out
I was throwing a Hydrogen Crash. Light ol yoyo
Probably a dumb question, but is there a different feel / quality between the Alphaline whiteout and the other colors of Alphalines?
It could be in my head, but I’ve had the disco flamingo and antifreeze in the past, and I think I remember one of them feeling rather rough in comparison compared to the other.
I have a pack of the highlighters on the way, fingers crossed they have a nice feel on the fingers.
Thank you for the reviews, very fun and informative.
Pink strings of all brands tend to suffer a pretty major drawback in feel and quality, and alphaline is no exception. While not as extreme as the difference between c3 yellow and pink, pink-containing alphaline also is a bit rougher hewn than its other siblings
Oh thank goodness, I was hoping it wasn’t in my head. Thank you
two months! so sorry, life is hectic right now, but i hope this makes up for my small absence.
Original Throw Izuru Hasumi Signature String || B (85/100)
Feels like an average soft string that turns a bit rougher with use, nothing special there. nice feeling thickness on the bind, maybe a bit tighter than other strings but it’s a warm welcome. this string also ages BEAUTIFULLY, and the slack/whip feel felt the same from first use to an hour, maybe a bit slower and controlled as it’s used but not a significant amount, so the following slack and whip description is applicable for from start to the hour. That being said, the closest word to describe the slacks is fluffy!! The movement is fluid and light while not being fast in movement, a lot of your own control goes into how the slacks moves. With tricks like rejections and small hooks, the slack smoothly flies in the air and feels almost effortless. Whips are similarly light and fluid, but it doesn’t land the trick for you. Stoles, hooks, and lacerations still require skill and effort, more than some other faster strings (ie. nylon blends, but the level of control over your own movement and therefore trick success/failure is very securing to me. All of this is made possible by the consistency being off the charts and tension being slow to build.
I’m starting to understand the concept of consistency as the level of control I feel I have over landing my own tricks, how much of me landing/failing tricks feels like luck or whether it’s my own skill. Of course this takes a lot of humility in being able to be honest when I fail on my own end, but I think i’m pretty good at that. This concept is still being workshopped though, would like to hear how you all understand the concept of consistency, given that it’s a bit weird to word for me.
Good string!! Recommend it highly if “fluffy feeling slacks” sounds vaguely appealing. Stats below.
