Biggest yoyo mistake

I was using the yyf hex tool when I did my paolista. The axle kept coming loose on me, so I got it finger tight and gave it another 1/2 turn. Low and behold a new little nipple on one of the halves

Eh not that much, sometimes somehow I feel like it actually helps with dingerspins (pun intended)

Learning the really cool string tension fixer helix trick and the yoyo pops off the string (the loop around the bearing) and falls to the concrete…first ding in a brand new throw.
Dumbest thing is getting a new to me Yoyo in the mail with a string already on it and forgetting to check string length or thinking that’s a little long, but I can handle it…and smacking a brand new to me throw into the concrete.

I almost always play over concrete, bc that’s what the floor is made of at my job that I spend all my time at.

Lol, what is the trick called?

I’ve done this too! Luckily it was indoors, but it escaped from the loop and went on a walk by itself through my house.

Probably this one since you can pretty easily loosen it too much if you go for too long:

There’s a fancier version called Bindwinder, too:

LMAO I thought the sidewinder for unresponsive is still called sidewinder until now…

I’ve heard it called both names!

New one: Playing 5a in a tiny room and almost throwing my Wedge outta the window. Luckily my window has a net I specially installed for this exact reason. (and for mosquito problems…)

My OCD requires that all axles in my yoyos are tightened down with the Allen hole up, but my Ta-1 had the axle waaaaaay stuck in there, so I tried to crank it out using a vicegrip and sheared the axle. I now have a perfect condition Ta-1 that is unusable because one side instead of an axle hole just has a crushed piece of metal. Oh, I also once threw a yoyo through a window because I was pissed the hell off at it. I had meant to throw it into my couch, but let go a little too soon. Broke the window, yoyo flew into the ocean :joy:

Oof. What Yoyo was it?

I think a DM2? long time ago, don’t quite remember.

Did you get it back or did it become a potential environmental hazard and was eaten by a whale?

Hilariously enough a year later I found it, but the rims were missing? Somehow something took both metal rims off and left the rest :joy:

Thing was NEON green, and the rocks we have out front are a very uniform black.

Oh here’s a stupid one:

I actually spent TWO WHOLE MONTHS designing a counterweight for mass production, only to discover that it’s patented by Duncan.
To this day I still have the design, never having seen the light of day.

Check the patent status before you design, kids

The clock is running out on that soon though…http://5ayoyo.com/

Not yoyo related at all, but this reminded me of a funny story that happened between my wife and I on a cross country road trip a couple years ago.

We were in the middle of nowhere and had no data connection, she was my co-pilot and was supposed to be maning the map for me.

It was toward the end of a very long day of driving, with 1 small child in the car who screamed for a pretty decent portion of the trip. We were all on edge and feeling snappy toward one another.

I said something that pissed her off enough to throw her phone at me, but the amazing thing was that somehow my hand was out at the perfect time to catch the phone perfectly oriented in the correct position as if I could just looked down and start using it like normal.

We both looked at each other square in the eyes and busted out laughing. It was the perfect comical relief and we felt much better after that lol.

Sorry for the total sidebar, move along everyone!

Can’t u carefully super glue a piece of metal or something on the broken axel to be able to twist it out? Just an idea lol no clue if it’s possible. Maybe like a tiny Allen key or something

i kinda gave up on it after a VICE GRIP couldn’t crank the axle out :joy: thanks for the idea though!
