Big red a honest review don’t hesitate to buy them

I’ve been trying big red and I have some pros and cons

Play feel 10/10

Texture 10/10

Whips are clean for 5 minutes so are slacks

One issue I have is constantly getting tails and having to adjust string tension every 5-6 minutes the twist method needs some improvement for nylon a lot of unwanted snags for a nylon string

Over all a fun string but need some reformulation or a tighter twist method or a core string

I like the string don’t hesitate to buy just have some critiques that can be improved on

For a small business they’re on the right direction

I give them 7/10

Again yo-yo everyone has preferences take what I say with a grain of salt

Cloud 9 6/10 (probably just a batch that had a unknown variable when making)

Red herring 9/10

What version string did you get? I got some cloud 9 and sour patch and I don’t know how I feel about it. The cloud 9 is awesome once it’s broken in. Getting the sour candy to hold tension proves tricky for me.

Cloud 9 in extra thicc again I use snow tires so there’s a broader surface area

Also I don’t think cloud 9 in that size is good for the manatee

I have or broken in piece I see what your mean

It seem some fibers need to break before it’s playable

I genuinely never knew what the term broken in meant

I will say tension is THE hardest part of string making. Ive gotten my own blends to be soft, super whippy, and hold slacks well but getting it to also fight tension has been an ongoing battle. Especially when youre doing it by hand. I dont know how zipline makes their string but its so consistent that I think they have to have machines involved

They add a core thread that one single strin no wrapong back and forth

Like they tie a single thread off on both ends? I have never thought about that

I sometimes notice it when my string breaks yo see the inner workings

Regardless Im still almost certain there’s a machine involved. There’s far too many variables and their string is outrageously consistent. Something that helps determine the pull force while they reduce or something. I can make 10 string all the same colors, thread count, and reduced to the same point and all will play slightly differently. And I’vemade thousands of string at this point..

That’s what I’m thinking maybe i just got an off batch of cloud 9

zipline is what I’m mostly comparing to. That and Monkey Vines. Zipline feels like it locks in compared to Big Red.

Definitely possible. Ive debated buying a pressure guage for my own string. That way I can at least try and get the end point to be consistent. Ive been doing string for a while now and have to give zipline props. They have that ■■■■ dialed in

Again I have no grudges or beef with big red

I compare my own to zipline as well. They are the gold standard imo. Executive is probably the best string I’ve ever played.

it doesn’t mean breaking threads if that’s what you’re suggesting

ziplines are handmade

Oh no i didn’t think so! Was just chiming in as someone who also makes string  its really tough lol

They’re just starting too so I understand what’s going on with them

My cloud nine that’s broken in has some snapped fibers and it plays better idk i think it includes micro snaps
