I’m a huge fan of the ASTer, it’s my personal every day carry alongside my projects. Not a 2023 yo-yo but definitely one most folks need in their collections.

But let me mention some favorites:
Motion Accellerated
What a beastly slightly undersized yoyo. And absolute monster performer that belies it’s size.
Dressel Emotion
Honestly this thing blew me away when I started playing it. I have the titanium version as well which is really awesome but the Al version feels a little more solid and powerful to me. Killer of a yoyo for such a price.
iYoyo AntArctica.
iYoyo managed to put out a Titanium/SS yoyo at a price where most companies put out Titanium mono throws. And it’s KILLER. Even at the $340 or so price tag…this thing is amazing.
Yoyofactory Bullseye
at $30 ish about one of the best fingerspinning monometal yoyos on the market I think. Good yoyo at $50, excellent yoyo for $30. Plays nice with other tricks too.

I am bias of course but I think accelerated is one of the best yo-yos that has ever been made - let alone 2023

What are your opinions on the Antarctica for competition play? It looks good, but I was wondering if it is significantly has better performance or has much advantages over other competition yoyos with that price haha
Oof, difficult question.
The only yoyos I’ve tried in that price range are some Titaniums. So I can only compare to those. And Compared to a monometal Titanium it for sure outperforms it in spintime and stability.
However…
I put it up in a simple hanging spin test against the Iceberg 2.0 that it was based off…and AntarcTIca got absolutely DESTROYED by the Iceberg.
I only did that one test though to compare. So I can’t say if it’ll do the same while doing combos or how it’s impacted differently by horizontal play…I do like it better for zontals than the Iceberg.
But it seems to be a prime example of how, just because something is 4x as expensive…doesn’t mean it’s 4x as good.
