Large Sebenza has been on my want list for a long time. My yoyo buying has been slowing down, so it’ll probably be in my pocket before too long. Really need to find a place I can see the large and small just to be sure the large is what I’m wanting.
I’ll join in, finally got myself a nice Spyderco a couple years ago. Comfortable and never pops open in my pocket like some others I’ve had over the years, not to mention sharper than sin!
I approve of your bourbon choice
It’s what caught my eye in your photo
The cleaver became a full blown blade shape craze it seemed. From fixed to folders there were some really nice big slice’e blades. I had a couple of Kizer Sheepdogs, the VDK War Admiral, and others.
Do you like it compared to fixed? I know last time I talked to Ernie at Blade someone mentioned he had made as much on the patent from the ‘wave’ as knives. He just smiled.
Are those blue handles Mike’s? Snody or $nody lol? I had a few of his before $nody. My Overlord (original without the top swedge) with red rayskin and skull n cross bones menuki was one of sharpest knives new I ever bought and favorite carry on the bike.
That was my 1st real knife decision, the Sebenza or Microtech SOCOM. In 1998 lol. Blade Magazine (iirc) did a shoot out on them and went with the SOCOM so I went with the SOCOM and still have it. Had a large Sebenza before and it’s a great knife.
TY. Tried to crop them out for the knife. It’s a shame what allocation has done to the Antique collection and many others.
My Ti lite six has killed more pants pockets with that wave than anything. Great knife I just don’t carry it anymore. Those purple scales are indeed Mike Snody, those are Big Bosses.
Current EDC has been the Damascus Skyline and Olight i3T EOS for a while. Going to slap on some brass scales eventually, just love how the Damascus Skyline looks with brass scales
Mike’s a great guy and has made some of my favorite knives. Him and his wife were always cool to us at Blade too.
Some pockets are hard to get the wave to work without an awkward draw. Flippers have been the go to for years now but I liked the wave on certain pockets.
The SD and WA. The milling on the WA is more than looks as it conforms to the hand very well.
Skyline is a classic! They look good in brass and copper scales. You can use brass black on it too although it wears off it’s fun to re-do and watch the patina change.
Have you seen the Emisar D4V2 in brass that someone put black brass on? This is it after some use/carry -
Damascus is so easy to sharpen and keep sharp. I’ve edc’d my LCC mainly for almost 20 years.
It’s hard to believe that people that are known to hit themselves in the head with yoyos are allowed to play with sharp objects! Just sayin Hahahha!
Nice stuff in this thread!
Mine and the one I made for my son.
Benchmade bone collector with g10 scales. I have carried it daily for over 10 years.
they all count
just as important-
what do you guys use to sharpen your knives? I spent a lot of time finding the right setup…
I have a 400/1000 diamond i use for rough shape or just a quick normal knife
naniwa choosera 1000
naniwa hayabusa 4000
natural kita stone
and the strop
plus atoma 400 diamond for flattening
(I also sharpen my woodworking hand tools and work tools with them so I made sure it can handle it all
Ive done some incredible jobs with this for my edc pocket knives, for kitchen knives you probably need something more refined but im not familiar with that field
I’ve got a spyderco sharpmaker and stones, a whole bunch of really large water stones. I’ve got a 400,1000,3000,6000, and a 8000.
To cover the gap from 400 to 1000 I’ve got a pair of Diamond rods that are 600 and 700. I will sharpen your crappy knives for cash.
Nice work!! I sure would have loved one of those push sticks 20 years ago when I cut off a pinky on a table saw!!!
Ouch! Seen the SawStop saws? Blast a blade and block and possible clutch but saves fingers.
What do powder bunnies know about sharp objects? ‘Just sayin Hahahha! ’
Yes I’ve seen em’. Wish I’d had one!
It just sucks they have a monopoly on the technology and are extremely hostile about any sort of competing safety systems. They also refuse to license the tech out so it’s saw stop or nothing when it comes to this tech and it’s a real downer. I loved the Bosch Reaxx, it was superior in many ways to the saw stop mechanism because it left your blade intact, and you didn’t have to replace it and the cartridge, it’d just drop the blade. Unfortunately saw stop sued bosch for “infringement” and won, even though they weren’t infringing on the patent… but w/e.
I’m kind of bitter about saw stop haha. It’s a great product but it needs to be available to more people. Especially on cheaper job-site sized saws that are so popular. Their saws aren’t anything special but they charge a premium because of their safety mechanism.
That does suck. So many have used capital and a patent to build monopolies. Sounds like Bosch got out bribed in a back room.
Like Maglite many years ago. Even though they couldn’t win a patent legal battle, they sued dozens of start-ups out of business who couldn’t afford the fight. When LED’s were getting popular they were loosing market share like crazy as they refused to change so they just sued on a patent basis of an aluminum body flashlight or a rubber o-ring seal. Vague legally, but backed with capitol, it worked.
The idea of such a safety based patent should fall under some special category maybe? I know I’ve heard stories of sawstops blowing whole saws to pieces when activated. Motor’s and all were destroyed.
