filled up with Case XX, Old Timer, German Eye, Double Tree, etc. knives. Always made sure you had one for your pocket to take with you when you visited. Some of mine and dads and his have blades almost sharpened away. I always hated when one I really liked wore a tiny whole in my pocket and was lost.
I currently EDC a Sebenza 31. I run a side business as a knife sharpener for high end steels like S30V, 20CV, M390, etc. I almost exclusively use Shapton Glass stones which are: 120 (diamond stone, non-shapton), 320, 500, 1k, 2k, 4k, 6k, 8k followed by 30k and 60k compound strops. Here are some of my mirror edges.
My edges are double beveled - 60k+ for the main bevel (the mirror), 500-1k for the micro bevel (cutting edge). Have you considered the Spyderco Sharpmaker?
I’ve used a sharpmaker, lansky, and KME. Never tried a wicked edge, but it similar to the KME. I use my stones mostly. I can sharpen a convex grind but it takes time. Flat grinds are easier and quicker, but I prefer convex. It cuts better and seems to hold an edge better too.
This maker sure has come a long way in a couple of years. The hybrid kitchen design isn’t something I would want/use but they look very nice and have great food release. His prices have quadrupled+ too though.
The Kimura was nice but the best flipper I’ve had is still the alpha beast. 3.0. I anodized it too, but it flipped so well, grip and balance were just right. I won’t buy BRS anymore due to quality issues, but that’s how my flipper experience was. Hom was nice but the balance was weird. BRS have all shown up with metal shavings and such along with pretty bad machining marks.

Very nice! I’m holding out for either a pair of Benchmade 86s or 87s myself, these bear ops 8s are just to pass the time. Lucky for me I don’t flip. Nope I’ma slicer dicer.
Heard you on quality, it’s tough to find a reliable production partner. Have a nice day Sir!
