I was not questioning your comment. I was laughing at your wanting to ā€˜sell your guitars and go into real estate’. That is serious discouragement

Hah! I know, no worries. I had the exact same though watching Jimmy when I was younger. ā€œWell… the guitar things done. May as well find something else to doā€

The relic jobs are so fire, love the sea foam green and paisley teles, I wonder if one day I’ll be a tele person.

I have never understood ā€˜reliced’ guitars. Why on earth would you want a brand new guitar that has been degraded by someone sanding it down and painting it so it appears as if it has been played for years? It has not been played; so what is the point? To make a case-queen look like it is not a case-queen? Why would I want to buy a brand-new degraded, worn fretboard? I guess it is just not my thing.

Actually worn in guitars feel like they are alive, like they have part of the soul of all the musicians that have contributed to patina imbued in it. Relics are trying to emulate it but you can’t make time in a factory.

Like Chat GPT, it looks real, it copies nearly perfectly, but it ain’t got NO SOUL!!!

I was never drawn to reliced guitars either. If there’s going to be wear and tear on a guitar, I want it to be my wear and tear. Or, at the very least, authentic wear and tear that goes with the overall aging of the instrument.

You can put old age make-up on an actor for a role, but that won’t give them the wisdom of the years they are portraying.

I personally wouldn’t but a factory relied guitar for the same reason, I’d want it to be my own, however it is nice to admire some factory relics, it’s kinda like buying a weathered/reliced version of a lightsaber, (even the though weathered versions sometimes is a replica of what happens in game)

Ugh. I NEED some of that in my life. I used to have an early Starfall, but I was in a real rough spot so I sold a bunch of stuff, including that saber. But the maker himself bought it back from me for his collection so I’m glad it went home. One day I’ll be in a position to do a Graflex build and get another custom Starfall.

I’d have one purpose for a worn in, super ā€œrelicedā€ guitar. It would be because it’s an American standard Telecaster with a broken neck for so cheap, that I can just replace the neck with a Kloss carbon fiber neck and call it my perfect guitar. I can dream…

YoYo for scale. Young me would be foaming at the mouth over this thing. Modeling has come a long way. I still love pedal boards and tube amps, but I can literally hang this off a strap while I’m practicing or writing a hook away from my Pod Go rig

I meant no disrespect. As with everything subjective; there is no accounting for taste. If you dig ā€˜reliced’ guitars; who am I to judge?

I’ve seen some sick ones. But agreed. My guitar is pretty darn beat though.

My latest indulgence (copied from Sweetwater):

Looking forward to ā€˜relicing’ this one.

Matching headstock is always such a good choice on Fender guitars. I have a Squier Contemporary Tele and it’s one of my favorite features.

We need to hope for each other enough to manifest it to reality! I think we can do it!

I posted this on another thread, but this is one of the few guitars I own. It is a custom parlor from Cowbrand Designs:

I had to wait for like a year and a half but I think my patience was rewarded.
